Ridgewood NJ, thanks to the hard work of former Mayor Susan Knudsen in March of 2022 the Village of Ridgewood was approved for a direct grant in 2022 in the amount of $2,800,000 from the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) .
Ridgewood NJ, Over the next several days, Ridgewood Water is working hard to complete more than a dozen lead service line replacements on Beechwood Road ahead of the scheduled road paving. Working in collaboration with PSE&G’s contractor, the paving is being rescheduled for the end of next week to provide our crews with enough time to complete all of the service line replacements. The replacements and paving should be completed by Friday August 18th. We thank the residents of Beechwood Road for their patience while we work to rehabilitate these service lines and bring a smoother road surface to this neighborhood, as well as thank PSE&G for collaborating with us to allow this important work to be completed.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Water Distribution Crews worked until the early morning isolating and patching a leak on the corner of Upper Boulevard and Glen Avenue. At 2 am they paused work to fill the hole and allow residents to move freely and have water returned to service for the morning commute. The crews then returned during the late morning to replace the broken section and complete the repair so that residents could access this road for the evening commute. This main is located in a dense bedrock trench requiring extensive excavation just to access and then remove the cracked main. Look at all that red rock.
Ridgewood NJ, according to Village Manager Keith Kazmark, Ridgewood Water is currently addressing a water main break at the intersection of Glen Avenue and Upper Boulevard. 38 homes are impacted and are without water. Traffic in the area will be disrupted. Crews are working to correct the issue as quickly as possible.
Ridgewood NJ, Smart Irrigation Month was an initiative kickstarted by the Irrigation Association with the aim of educating individuals regarding the benefits of smart irrigation technologies, products, and services. Amongst many examples of water wastage, one is directly associated with sprinklers — people turn on sprinklers but forget to turn them off! Therefore, the concept of smart irrigation was founded to ensure the right technology is being used at the right time.
Ridgewood NJ, members of our staff say they routinely witness violations of Stage II water conservation regulations and routinely report such violations to Ridgewood Water (@ 201-670-5500, extension 2271), but nothing seems to change.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Mayor Paul Vagianos recently revealed that despite efforts on the part of Ridgewood’s governing body, officials in two of the other three municipalities served by Ridgewood Water are steadfastly against the adoption of water conservation ordinances similar to those the Village of Ridgewood has in place.
Ridgewood NJ, at the Village Council Public Meeting, of February 8, 2023, the Mayor and Council unanimously approved two bond ordinances to fund the next phases of the PFAS Treatment Master Plan. The companion funding ordinances of $42 million and $18.5 million will facilitate borrowing through the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank for the four largest PFAS treatment facilities and the associated raw water mains to connect satellite wells to each treatment facility. These treatment facilities, producing upwards of 11.5 million gallons per day of PFOA and PFOS free water, will be located in Wyckoff, Midland Park and Glen Rock. A total of 10.4 miles of raw water main will be constructed to connect offsite wells to each treatment facility, raising the total amount of wells treated at all four facilities to thirty three. Ridgewood Water currently has PFAS treatment online for seven wells and will be adding an eighth well this summer.
Spring is here and things are starting to green up in Ridgewood. With the warmer weather around the corner, preparations are being made for the return of the Pedestrian Plaza in our central business district beginning June 3. The Village is looking forward to a summer of welcoming families to Ridgewood Avenue to enjoy our local restaurants and shops, bringing foot traffic to the heart of our community.
Ridgewood NJ, as previously reported on numerous occasions Ridgewood Water has limited watering to 2 Days per week . ODD numbered addresses may water their lawns, shrubs, flowers and trees on Tuesday and Saturday, and EVEN numbered addresses may do so on Wednesday and Sunday. No irrigation is allowed on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Irrigation shall be performed before 10:00 a.m. or after 6:00 p.m., to limit evaporation. Those with automatic irrigation systems and those with Smart Controllers may only water between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. You must register your Smart Controllers, on an annual basis, with Ridgewood Water.
