Ridgewood Parks Division Removes Tree Blocking Saddle River

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Parks Division removed a large tree down across the Saddle River on Friday. River bank erosion and root exposure have made these downed trees a more frequent issue. According to Village Manager Kieth Kazmark ,”Bank stabilization is a major topic the Village will be discussing with the US Army Corps of Engineers this spring”

Upper Saddle River Wins Decade Old Lawsuit Over Sewage Discharge

Upper Saddle River NJ, after a decade-long legal battle, the borough has been awarded a $900,000 settlement over the discharge of approximately 540,000 gallons of waste into the Saddle River by the Rockland County Sewer District No. 1.

Ridgewood NJ, here we go again, flood watch is now in effect from Saturday morning through late Saturday night for portions of northeast New Jersey and southeast New York, including Bergen , Passaic and Hudson  counties. Excessive rainfall may lead to flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying areas, especially in poor drainage and urban regions.

Village of Ridgewood Sets Up Next Appointment with the United States Army Corps of Engineers

Ridgewood NJ,accord to the Village of Ridgewood Manager Keith Kazmark , the Village received a letter from Colonel Alexander L. Young, Commander of the New York District of the United States Army Corps of Engineers acknowledging the Village’s request for assistance and laying out multiple program options for us to pursue. We are tentatively set to meet internally with the USACE next week to discuss the path forward and next steps with regard to residential flooding and the impact on Village/BOE infrastructure. Progress.

Tree Cleared From Saddle River by Village of Ridgewood After Latest Storm

Ridgewood NJ, during the storm this past weekend, a large tree along the Saddle River was down and up against the Linwood Avenue Bridge. The Ridgewood Parks Division and Streets Division worked together to remove the tree and clear the debris from the river.

Ridgewood Village Council Finally Moves on Public Safety

Ridgewood NJ, on Tuesday June 15th 2021 , the East Saddle River footbridge at the bottom Kingsbridge Lane was closed with caution tape and horses. One Wednesday , additional plywood blockades were installed by the Ridgewood maintenance crew, as they unsecured a portion of broken fencing. A Village source told the Ridgewood blog ,”the bridge is shot” .

Ridgewood NJ, the Village Manager Keith Kazmark said in Wednesday nights council meeting , “Our community experienced significant flooding this week for the for the third time in just over a three-month period. The Village has prioritized these concerns and has engaged the US Army Corps. of Engineers and the NJ DEP as we seek Federal and State support for flood mitigation. We must protect residential properties and both Village and Board of Education assets. I addressed this topic at the Village Council meeting last night.”
