The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit is assisting the Maywood and Hackensack Police Departments in an investigation into the details of the death of 39-year-old Maywood Police Sergeant Jason Y. Liaban, who sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound just after 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023. The death is not suspected to involve criminal activity, but the circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated.

Carlstadt NJ, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating a death at the Super 8 Motel, 395 Washington Avenue, Carlstadt, NJ. On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, a female patron of the hotel was discovered deceased. The decedent’s name is being withheld at this time pending notification to next of kin.

Hackensack NJ, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Hackensack Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the area of Essex Street & Lehigh Street in Hackensack, NJ on Saturday, November 12, 2022, around 5:00 p.m. The Hackensack Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at that location with two victims shot. Responding officers found two male victims, each with a gunshot wound.
Responding Hackensack Police Officers found one male victim who sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. A second victim, 28-year-old Vidal R. Nieves, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased from a gunshot wound.

Hackensack NJ, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Hackensack Police Department are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Essex Street in Hackensack, NJ on Friday, July 29, 2022 at approximately 3:52 p.m. Responding officers transported one of the motorists to Hackensack University Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries.

Little Ferry NJ, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Little Ferry Police Department investigated a homicide that occurred at 7 Sand Hill Court in Little Ferry on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. At approximately 4:00 p.m., the Little Ferry Police Department received a 911 call from 7 Sand Hill Court reporting that an occupant of the residence was the victim of a stabbing. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Omelly Domiguez, a 21-year-old female, deceased from a gunshot wound. A suspect has been taken into custody, and no other individuals are believed to have been involved.

At 4:31 p.m., the Lodi Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting that shots had been fired at that address. Responding officers found the 26-year-old victim, John Anthony DeLeon of Paterson, NJ, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the North Arlington Police Department under the direction of Chief Scott Hedenberg.
