Pedestrians Hit Crossing Cedar Hill Avenue in Wyckoff

Wyckoff NJ, an ambulance each from Midland Park and Wyckoff transported two (2) victims to local hospitals from the scene of a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian crash at the intersection of Cedar Hill Avenue and Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff on Tuesday morning, 04/12. Both victims were believed to have been pedestrians who were attempting to cross Cedar Hill Avenue at the time they were struck by a passing vehicle. An individual thought to be the driver of a silver colored SUV parked at the crash site was observed being interviewed by several Wyckoff Police uniformed officers. Police at the scene did not say whether the victims were using the intersection’s crosswalks when struck, nor was there any information provided as to the likelihood of summonses being issued. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Midland Park and Wyckoff EMTs at the scene. Midland Park Police also provided assistance at the incident.

Private Ambulance Service Employee Falls From Moving Vehicle of Route 208 South in Wyckoff

Wyckoff NJ, on February 25th approximately  1.35 pm Wyckoff Police received a 911 call reporting a person had fallen out of a moving vehicle on Route 208  South between Ewing and Russell Avenues. Arriving officers reported that the front seat passenger of a private ambulance had fallen out of the vehicle and was lying on the shoulder of the highway .  The 21 year old male was an employee of the private ambulance service . He appeared to have suffered  internal injuries and possible broken bones. The victim was transported to St Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson .

Wyckoff Home of U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer Hit With Protests

Wyckoff NJ, several police departments from Bergen and Passaic Counties along with officers from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office assisted Wyckoff Police in the arrest of approximately 12 protestors at the Wyckoff home of U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer on Monday afternoon, 10/18. Those arrested were allegedly trespassing on private property owned by the Congressman and his spouse. No injuries were reported by any officers or protestors at the scene.

100+ youths gather to watch fight at RHS – Police from multiple towns & county sheriff’s units respond

Ridgewood NJ, A Saturday night fist fight involving 2 male youths on the grounds of RHS reportedly drew more than 100 spectators and required Ridgewood Police to ask for police assistance from multiple towns and the Bergen Sheriff’s Office to disperse the gathered crowd.  No arrests were made, nor were any injuries reported in connection with the melee.

Single Family Home Hit by Car in Hawthorne

Hawthorne NJ, the driver and one (1) passenger of a Volkswagen Passat were transported to an area hospital following a Thursday afternoon, 12/03 crash in the 600 block of Goffle Hill Road, Hawthorne, in which the Passat crashed through an outer wall of a single family home and wound up in the basement garage. Hawthorne Fire was assisted by Wyckoff Fire at the scene. Hawthorne Police, Hawthorne EMS, and Wyckoff Police also responded.

Wyckoff Motor Vehicle Crash Leaves Only Minor Injuries

Wyckoff  NJ, Wyckoff Police, Wyckoff EMS, and Wyckoff Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash with rollover on Friday afternoon, 08/21, on the Russell Avenue Route 208 overpass. The occupants of the vehicle, a yellow Jeep, self extricated prior to the arrival of emergency responders. Injuries were very minor in nature. A flatbed tow truck righted the Jeep and removed it from the scene. Hawthorne Police and the Wyckoff Fire Police assisted with traffic control.

Ridgewood Water Make Main Repairs in Wyckoff

Wyckoff NJ, RIDGEWOOD WATER has advised that they will continue making water main improvements at the intersection of Wyckoff & Cedar Hill Avenues on Tuesday. Work is planned to begin at 7:00 am and continue until 9:00 pm.

Traffic heading west on Wyckoff Avenue will not be impacted, but traffic traveling east (towards Midland Park) will be detoured around the work area.

Please allow extra travel time, reduce your speed and follow the posted detour.

WYCKOFF POLICE ESTABLISH INTERNET SAFE EXCHANGE ZONE

Wyckoff NJ, The Wyckoff Police Department has established a “Safe Exchange Zone” in the front of the Wyckoff Police Department entrance, located at 340 Franklin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481(left side of the Municipal Building). The area by the “exchange sign” is video recorded 24hrs a day by state of the art security cameras. It should be noted that personnel are not in the police station at all times, thus it is recommended that the zone be used during normal business hours, Monday-Friday. If this is not possible, the area is recorded and routinely patrolled.

Coyote Kills Wyckoff Family, Dog

Wyckoff NJ, the Wyckoff Police report that on Tuesday evening, a resident of Wyckoff, who resides in the Spring Meadow area, reported that a coyote had taken their small family dog from their backyard which bordered a wooded area. A short time later, the dog was found but tragically, had succumbed to its injuries. Wyckoff Police responded and documented the incident and immediately contacted Tyco Animal Control, who is our contracted service. Tyco monitored the situation and is investigating, but there are certain State rules about what actions they can take at this time. As posted earlier this week, contact us, if an animal is acting aggressively or threatening so that we can contact animal control to respond. Further, please use our main phone line, 201-891-2121 to report non-emergent animal sightings rather than 911. 911 is to be used for actual emergencies only. Below, we have posted some Wild Animal Awareness tips concerning Coyotes provided by Tyco.
