The Ridgewood Retailer LaCasita Has Closed its Doors after 50+ Years in Business

Ridgewood NJ, Elena McKinnon the owner of LaCasita died in early January of this year . She was referred to by her friends as a “Ridgewood treasure,” sadly passing away at age 74. She had opened the women’s clothing store on 158 East Ridgewood Avenue more than 50 years ago and remained there until her untimely death .

Ex-Ridgewood YMCA Camp Bernie Counselor Pleads Guilty To Three Counts of Sexual Assault

Ridgewood NJ, in November ,Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson announced that a Hunterdon County Grand Jury returned a seven-count indictment on November 3, 2022, charging a camp counselor for the sexual assault of three children under the age of 13. Joshua F. Daranijo, 24, of Levittown, PA, was indicted for three counts of second-degree sexual assault, three counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child (possession of child pornography). In August 2022, an investigation revealed that Mr. Daranijo had sexual contact with three victims under the age of 13 while employed as a camp counselor at Camp Bernie in Lebanon Township. Despite having been indicted, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
