Outdoor Dining Corrals and Pedestrian Plazas are Back for Ridgewood’s Central Business District

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood ‘s new Mayor Paul Vagianos immediately acted with the council’s support to reintroduce outdoor dining corrals and pedestrian plazas to the central business district. While the details are still a bit fuzzy the outdoor dining corrals and weekend plazas that closed part of Ridgewood Avenue will resume in May through September with the idea of extending the plaza’s through Friday.

Paramus NJ, Bed Bath & Beyond said it might not be able to continue as a going concern, bringing another US retail chain to the precipice of bankruptcy and potentially placing tens of thousands of employees at risk. The news comes less than a day after Amazon said it was firing more than 18,000 employees—8,000 more than expected—the biggest wave of terminations in its history.

Ridgewood NJ, the APP has unveiled the 2023 APP Pickleball Participation Report, a study conducted by YouGov on behalf of the APP that shows that pickleball, America’s fastest growing sport, has enjoyed even higher growth than previously thought in the 12 months from August 2021 to August 2022. The headline numbers include 14% of adult Americans (36.5 million people) playing pickleball at least once in that 12-month period; and 8.5 million people playing pickleball eight times or more in 2022. The rapid rise of pickleball also looks set to continue, with 45% of the 36.5 million total players saying they plan to play pickleball more often in the next six months than the previous six-month period.

Tenafly Women Killed in Crash Attempting to Elude Maryland State Police

Tenafly NJ, the Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Office of the Attorney General has released new information on the fatal I-95 crash that killed a New Jersey woman driving erratically on I-95 in Cecil County who was pursued by Maryland State Police troopers for miles. Julie Clark was killed on I-95 in Maryland after crashing into a tree near an exit ramp.

Fire Fighters Rescue Occupant in Teaneck Apartment Fire

Teaneck NJ, on January 2nd, members of the Teaneck Fire Department 2nd Platoon responded to 34 State Street, on a reported fire on the 5th floor, with a possible occupant still inside. First arriving units were able to confirm no occupants were in the apartment.
Because of the high life safety risk, Englewood Fire and City of Hackensack Fire Department Ladders were requested to the scene. Members put the aerial to the roof to assist with ventilating the top floor fire. Englewood Fire Truck 2 and Car 4 operated for approximately one hour.
