West Virginia , better stock some extra blankets this winter ,the West Virginia Coal Association has blasted the Inflation Resumption Act as a dagger in the heart of Manchin’s own home-state industry. The letter is signed by heads of coal industry groups in Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. We count FIVE Democratic senators from these states all of whom favor this bill.

Elmwood Park firefighters Extricate Driver from an SUV after Rollover Crash

Elmwood Park NJ, Elmwood Park firefighters extricated an adult female driver from an SUV that rolled over on its side after striking two (2) parked vehicles on Mola Boulevard near Broadway early Saturday morning, 08/06. The rolled over SUV and one (1) parked vehicle were towed from the scene. An ambulance transported the injured driver to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

Paramus NJ, early on the morning of July 25th  a 36″ water transmission line in Spring Valley Road near the entrance to Panera Bread/Kohl’s failed. Residents in the area experienced slightly below normal water pressure. There was no boil water advisory at this time. Repairs rapidly started . The Road was closed .

Upper Saddle River NJ , according to  Upper Saddle River Police at approximately 6:15 pm on the evening of August 1st there was an attempted car burglary in the area of Weiss Road. The perpetrators vehicle description is a Honda sedan color silver with damage to the passenger side door. The perpetrator is described as a thin black male wearing black shorts and a surgical mask. If anyone witnessed the above incident or sees the above described vehicle please call the police department (201) 327-2700.

Grant Highway, Bronx, NY on charges of possession with the intent to distribute prescription legend drugs. The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

Ridgewood Fire Department Quickly Extinguishes a Smokey Kitchen Fire

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Fire Department personnel quickly extinguished a smokey kitchen fire in a single family, split level home located within the 400 block of Lucille Court, Ridgewood on Friday afternoon, 08/05. No injuries were reported by either the lone adult female occupant or any firefighters. Damage to the home was light. Ridgewood Fire Department, Ridgewood Police Department, and Ridgewood OEM representatives were on the scene. The cause appears to be a toaster oven .

Washington DC, total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 528,000 in July, and the unemployment rate edged down to 3.5 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job growth was widespread, led by gains in leisure and hospitality, professional and business services, and health care. Both total nonfarm employment and the unemployment rate have returned to their February 2020 pre-pandemic levels.

Trenton NJ, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture has announced that reimbursement funding is available for all New Jersey counties for treatment of the spotted lanternfly. The funding amount can be as much as $15,000 and possibly more. The funds will be given to counties for costs they accrue for chemical treatment activities associated with spotted lanternfly control.
