Paramus NJ, Bergen Community College has signed a dual admission and transfer partnership agreement with Stockton University that will help students make a smooth transition from the institution to Stockton’s bachelor’s degree program. The five-year agreement strengthens the relationship between Bergen and Stockton by offering multiple opportunities for students to seamlessly pursue associate and bachelor’s degrees at the two institutions of higher education.

Concord, New Hampshire , New Hampshire (US) Governor Chris Sununu last week signed into law a “medical freedom” bill that prohibits “any public facility, any public benefit, or any public service” from requiring state residents be vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 to receive or access such services or facilities. The law states that “every person has the natural, essential, and inherent right to bodily integrity, free from any threat or compulsion by government to accept an immunization.” Notably, the law sets out several exceptions, including vaccination requirements for schools, childcare, county nursing homes, and the state’s mental health system. Additionally, the New Hampshire Department of Corrections may mandate certain medical treatments or immunizations “when a direct threat exists.” The law does not address private businesses. Governor Sununu continues to voice support for SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. According to state data, nearly 54% of the state’s residents are fully vaccinated, above the national average.

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Police and Hawthorne Fire Department responded to a “reported car into house” 911 telephone call on Friday morning, 07/30, in the 0-100 block of Highview Terrace, Hawthorne. No injuries were reported by the vehicle’s sole occupant, an adult driver, nor any of the structure’s occupants. Damage to the structure was moderate; members of Hawthorne Fire Department Rescue 5 used lumber to temporarily shore up the affected area. The minivan involved in the crash did not appear to have sustained damage that would have prevented in from being driven.

Palisades Park NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JOSE M. RIVERA MES (DOB: 12/30/1991; single; bus company employee) of 45 East Brinkerhoff Avenue, Apartment 7, Palisades Park, NJ, on charges of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Palisades Park Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Captain Shawn Lee.
