Ridgewood High School Honor Student Receives West Point Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award

Ridgewood NJ, Stephen Kalish, former Army Officer and a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, presented the Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award on behalf of the West Point Society of New Jersey, an organization of graduates and friends of West Point who live in New Jersey. Each year, the West Point Society of New Jersey sponsors the Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Awarded at approximately 100 high schools throughout New Jersey.

Grewal announced that the State Board of Medical Examiners (“the Board”) has permanently revoked the license of a Passaic County orthopedic surgeon who allegedly prescribed high dosages of addictive opioid painkillers to his patients for years without a legitimate medical purpose, often while turning a blind eye to signs that patients may have been abusing the controlled dangerous substances (“CDS”) or diverting them for illegal purposes.

NJ Attorney General Issues Cease-and-Desist Letters to Businesses that Evade State’s Cannabis Laws by Providing Free Marijuana “Gifts” to Customers

NEWARK NJ, As New Jersey implements the State’s new adult-use cannabis law, Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal  announced that the Division of Consumer Affairs today issued warning letters to businesses that claim to offer free “gifts” of marijuana or cannabis items with purchases of snacks, baked goods, or other products. The letters state that New Jersey will enforce the limits of the adult-use cannabis law to protect the integrity of the regulated market from competition by unlicensed businesses.

Ridgewood Public Schools Expected to Receive Approximately $1.1 million from the American Rescue Plan

Ridgewood NJ, at Monday’s Ridgewood Board of Education meeting, the requirements for the American Rescue Plan Federal Grant were presented. The ARP (American Rescue Plan) Act provides $122 billion in funding to states and school districts to facilitate the reopening and safe operation of schools. The portion expected for Ridgewood Public Schools is approximately $1.1 million. How the grant can be spent is still being determined by the federal government. As more information about allowable uses of these funds becomes available, plans will be developed with community input and communicated.
The first step in acquiring our allocation is to provide information to the state and federal government on specific areas of our operation (Safe Return Plan), allow public comment, and then include these summaries on the first phase of the application. The Safe Return Plan template addresses eight (8) areas of operation, which are as follows:

Missing Mahwah Man Found Drowned After Extensive Search

Mahwah NJ, Police officials confirmed that the Mahwah resident drowned, and that his body was found around 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The body of a 24-year-old man has been recovered from a Dators Pond after he went missing while paddle boarding. The 24-year-old is believed to have drowned. He was out on the water with his older brother on Monday, according to police. He reportedly lost his balance and fell into the water.

NASA Plots Reentry to the Lunar Surface

Washington DC, As NASA continues plans for multiple commercial deliveries to the Moon’s surface per year, the agency has selected three new scientific investigation payload suites to advance understanding of Earth’s nearest neighbor. Two of the payload suites will land on the far side of the Moon, a first for NASA. All three investigations will receive rides to the lunar surface as part of NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services, or CLPS, initiative, part of the agency’s Artemis approach.
