Justice Department Warns About Fake Post-Vaccine Survey Scams

Washington DC, The Department of Justice has received reports that fraudsters are creating fraudulent COVID-19 vaccine surveys for consumers to fill out with the promise of a prize or cash at the conclusion of the survey. In reality, the surveys are used to steal money from consumers and unlawfully capture consumers’ personal information.

Many New Jersey State Government Websites are Down

Trenton NJ, searches this morning revealed many New Jersey Government state site are down or offline this morning . The Ridgewood blog ran a check and found some functions on  NJMVC offline , the Office of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, NJDEP, NJDOL and NJDOH all offline at 7:20 am this morning(04/03/21) . Currently there is no information available as to the nature of the problem.

Ridgewood NJ, Virgin Galactic unveiled the VSS Imagine on Tuesday, the first of its next-generation SpaceShip III class of vehicles. It is the third spacecraft the company has built to date. The VSS Imagine was designed with lessons taken from flight testing on VSS Unity in mind. SpaceShip III class spacecraft can be manufactured faster and take less time to maintain between each flight compared to SpaceShipTwo class spacecraft due to their modular design. Virgin Galactic is on track for a test flight in May, after a delay in December.

Energy-mining Card Treats 5G networks as Wireless Power Grids

Ridgewood NJ, A team from Georgia Tech has unveiled a 3D-printed rectifying antenna that can harvest electromagnetic energy from 5G signals and use it to power devices. The playing card-sized device could turn 5G networks into wireless power grids. It is flexible and works well even when bent. Millimeter-wave energy harvesting has been possible for some time, but it hasn’t been practical due to the large size of previous antennas. The device can harvest more than enough energy to power a range of small sensors and devices by using energy that would otherwise have been wasted.

Glen Rock Library has been closed until further notice

Glen Rock NJ, as of March 30th the Glen Rock Library has been closed .  On there Facebook page they issued the following statement:
“Out of an abundance of caution and care and concern for our community, the Glen Rock Library will be closed until further notice. Our blue return bins are closed as well. You may return your items to another BCCLS library or wait until we reopen. Your valid Glen Rock Library card can be used electronically or at another BCCLS library.”

Apple to Add Two New Siri Voices

Ridgewood NJ, Apple is adding two brand new Siri voices and will no longer default to a female or male voice in iOS . We we were looking forward to Apple would introducing  the voice of Mr. T from the 1980s television series The A-Team, but no luck.

BERGEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE TAKES CONTROL OF ENGLEWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT

Englewood NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces that effective April 2, 2021, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office will take charge of the Englewood Police Department. On December 15, 2021, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the City of Englewood entered into a Memorandum of Agreement under which the Prosecutor’s Office assumed direction and control of the Englewood Police Department’s Internal Affairs functions. The present action under which the Prosecutor’s Office will assume full direction and control of the police department is occasioned by the unanticipated retirement of Englewood Chief of Police Lawrence Suffern on April 1, 2021.
