Ridgewood NJ,  Ridgewood Crew is excited to invite the community to its Annual Rowathon, set to take place at Van Neste Square on Saturday, March 16th, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This event promises a day of fun, fitness, and fundraising, as attendees will have the unique opportunity to learn more about the sport of rowing, sign up for the “Learn to Row” program, and support the funding for new equipment.

Ridgewood Fire Department Awarded a $75,000 Grant

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Fire Department has been awarded a $75,000 grant to help ensure our fire fighters have proper fire protection, cleaning and sanitization equipment through the American Rescue Plan. This is the highest award municipalities received. The Ridgewood Fire Department has made securing grant funding a priority, which helps off set costs to our taxpayers.

Trenton NJ, New Jersey Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Bracken, delivering testimony this morning in front of the Assembly Budget Committee, said the proposed $56 billion state budget would inflict damage on New Jersey’s economy and its reputation as an improving destination to run a business. Bracken primarily took aim at what he called a “punitive and egregious” 2.5% Corporation Business Tax hike on the state’s biggest employers.

Altman Cements Control of OpenAI

Ridgewood NJ, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has officially returned to the company’s board of directors after a four-month hiatus. His temporary removal from the company, which occurred during a tumultuous five-day period, stunned Silicon Valley. However, a third-party investigation concluded on Friday that there was no wrongdoing on Altman’s part that warranted his removal.

Protesters in Teaneck Clash Over Sale of Homes in West Bank Settlements

Teaneck NJ, protesters gathered at the Teaneck Armory on the north end of town and marched about a mile to  Congregation Keter Torah, where the My Home in Israel Real Estate company was giving out information on how to buy properties. The issue ,among those properties were some in West Bank settlements that U.S. policy has long considered illegal.

House Fire in Wood-Ridge Under Investigation

Wood-Ridge NJ, Wood-Ridge Fire Department units responded at 11:56 to 271 North Ave for a House Fire. Arriving companies were met with heavy fire on the 1st floor of a 2 story home. An aggressive interior attack by Engine 901’s crew confined the fire to the room of origin. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and searches conducted by Truck 904’s crew confirmed this. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wood-Ridge Fire Prevention Bureau. There were no injuries.

Garfield Garage Fire Under Investigation

Garfield NJ, just before 0945 hours this morning, Garfield Fire Department was alerted to a possible garage fire on Market St. Deputy 1 (Chief Colon) arrived first on scene and confirmed a second alarm upon arrival. Engine 5 arrived first due and began attacking the fire. Engine 5 was quickly joined by the other fire companies to extinguish the fire. Several Mutual Aid towns responded to assist on scene and provide City coverage. The Garfield Fire Prevention Bureau is conducting and investigation into the fire.
