Trenton NJ, while Governor Murphy continues to push his all electric vehicle mandate ,Toyota’s Chairman and former CEO, Akio Toyoda, has been a vocal skeptic of the electric vehicle (EV) hype, which contributed to his stepping down from the CEO role earlier this year. With Tesla reporting disappointing third-quarter earnings, it seems that some investors are reevaluating the profitability of EVs. In an “I told you so” moment Toyoda said, “People are finally seeing reality.”

Underlying Inflation Accelerated to a Four-month High in September

Ridgewood NJ, the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of underlying inflation saw an uptick to a four-month high in September, and consumer spending also showed an increase, leaving the possibility of another interest rate hike in the near future. The core personal consumption expenditures price index, which excludes volatile food and energy components, rose by 0.3% in September, as reported by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Inflation-adjusted consumer spending saw a 0.4% increase last month.

Paramus NJ, the driver of a Nissan Kicks subcompact SUV was transported by a Paramus EMS ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus following an early Friday morning, 10/27, crash in which the Nissan slammed head on into a school bus at the intersection of East Midland Avenue and From Road, Paramus. There were no students on the Bergenfield Board of Education owned bus at the time and the bus driver was uninjured. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by tow trucks. Paramus Fire Department Engine Company #1 attended to a crash related fluid spill. The Nissan’s driver sustained a non life threatening facial injury. Schools open drive carefully .

Secaucus School and Daycare Put Into Lockdown After Reports of Armed Man Nearby

Secaucus NJ, on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 930am the Secaucus Police Department received a call from the New Jersey State Police, Sussex Station stating they had contact with a concerned family member of a male who is suicidal and that they have tracked his cellular phone in the area of Penhorn Avenue, Turnpike Exit 15X in Secaucus and the Jersey City jurisdictional border in Laurel Hill Park. It was reported that this male was possibly armed with a handgun/shotgun and wished to harm himself. The male’s cell phone was constantly tracked to get a more precise and frequently updated locations. The location of this male was narrowed to the marsh area near the Secaucus Junction Train Station/Laurel Hill Park where a perimeter was immediately set so that the male could be located. The Secaucus Police certified drone pilots launched the department drones. Jersey City Police Department and New Jersey Transit Police Department Emergency Service Units along with Patrol personnel, Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and New Jersey State Police Troopers and Helicopter responded to assist with securing the area. At 0945 hours the phone was believed to be stationary, therefore the Hudson County High Tech High School and the Kiddie Academy Daycare at the Exchange were informed to “shelter-in-place” due to the heavy police presence and increased traffic of law enforcement equipment.

Ridgewood NJ, after this month’s attacks in Israel, American voters overwhelmingly view Hamas as terrorists, and want an investigation of the Palestinian organization’s U.S. supporters.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 78% of Likely U.S. Voters believe Hamas should be considered a terrorist organization. Just eight percent (8%) disagree, while another 15% are not sure. (To see survey question wording  click here.

Ridgewood NJ, in Virginia, a judge made the correct decision to disqualify a school board candidate because she gave the wrong address on her ballot paperwork. The Fairfax County Office of Elections has informed voters on its website that Marcia St. John-Cunning was disqualified on Wednesday by a court order from the Fairfax County Circuit Court. The judge decided that her petition was not valid due to an address mistake on the front page.
