NJ TRANSIT SETTLES WITH NATIONAL LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEERS UNION OVER LAST YEAR’S UNLAWFUL JUNETEENTH JOB ACTION

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT is still pursuing claims against the General Committee of Adjustment (GCA), the local union organization that orchestrated the illegal job action. A decision of the Federal Court last June found in favor of NJ TRANSIT and that the GCA violated the Railway Labor Act by instigating the “sick-out”. The Court’s order put in effect immediately following the job action remains in place and prohibits the local union from taking any such action in the future, including for this year’s Juneteenth holiday.

Little Ferry Nj, according to Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco , in honor of Juneteenth, the County’s Division of Cultural & Historic Affairs (DCHA) under the County’s Department of Parks will open the County-owned historic site Gethsemane Cemetery in Little Ferry from Saturday, June 17th to Monday, June 19th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. for self-guided tours. Continuous shuttles will be provided to Gethsemane from Overpeck Park on Saturday, June 17th.

Whale Watch: Environmental Groups Sue NJ DEP Over Offshore Wind Project

Long Beach Island NJ, groups that have been at the forefront of the effort to halt plans for hundreds of electricity-generating wind turbines in the Atlantic Ocean have taken their campaign to court.
The groups ,Save LBI, Defend Brigantine Beach and Protect Our Coast NJ  claim state officials ignored evidence the massive structures will harm the offshore environment in their approvals.
The legal action naming the state Department of Environmental Protection and company developing the offshore wind project  was filed with the state Appellate Division, the normal venue for challenging the decision of a state agency. A previous lawsuit filed by wind-power opponents was rejected by a federal judge earlier this year.
