Ridgewood NJ, Monday, June 19, 2023, is Juneteenth, an official Federal Holiday.

All Ridgewood Public Schools will be closed in observance of the holiday. However, all Village of Ridgewood offices and services (including sanitation, recycling, Village Hall, Ridgewood Water, and The Stable) will be open and in operation.

Whale Watch: Environmental Groups Sue NJ DEP Over Offshore Wind Project

Long Beach Island NJ, groups that have been at the forefront of the effort to halt plans for hundreds of electricity-generating wind turbines in the Atlantic Ocean have taken their campaign to court.
The groups ,Save LBI, Defend Brigantine Beach and Protect Our Coast NJ  claim state officials ignored evidence the massive structures will harm the offshore environment in their approvals.
The legal action naming the state Department of Environmental Protection and company developing the offshore wind project  was filed with the state Appellate Division, the normal venue for challenging the decision of a state agency. A previous lawsuit filed by wind-power opponents was rejected by a federal judge earlier this year.

Englewood NJ, Englewood Police Department  is attempting to locate missing person, Mr. Stanley Taylor. Taylor is a 53 year old male last seen on 6/10/23 in Hackensack, NJ. It is believed Taylor was traveling to Newark by way of NJ Transit bus. Taylor is approximately 5’8” tall with a medium build and recently clean shaven. Anyone with information on Stanley Taylor’s whereabouts please contact the Englewood Police Department at 201-568-2700.

Most recently, Brittany has received her Masters in Social Work which helps her better serve those experiencing an emotional and/or mental crisis. Brittany is happy to donate her time to Ridgewood Emergency Services, as well as, the village of Ridgewood and its residence as a whole. Former RHS Football Coach and Teacher Roger Sweeney’s Memorial Service and Time of Remembrance Celebration

Mother and Toddler Shaken up in Morning Crash at the Intersection of East Glen Avenue and Northern Parkway in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, a mother and her toddler were shaken up but uninjured when their Volvo SUV collided with a landscaper’s small dump truck at the intersection of East Glen Avenue and Northern Parkway, Ridgewood just prior to 10:00 AM on Saturday morning, 06/17. One (1) motor vehicle summons was issued by Ridgewood Police in connection with the crash. Ridgewood Fire Department and Ridgewood firefighters/EMTs responded to evaluate the victims, and to mitigate a crash related fluid spill. The Volvo was towed from the scene.

UPDATE: Pedestrian Miraculously Escapes Injury after Being Struck by a NJ Transit Train in Fair lawn

Fair Lawn  NJ, an two “adult male” pedestrians miraculously escaped injury late Friday afternoon, 06/16, when he was struck by a Suffern bound NJ Transit passenger train as he attempted to cross the train tracks at Fair Lawn Avenue in Fair Lawn when the train was approaching. Fair Lawn Police and NJ Transit Police officers responded to the incident. The pedestrian refused to be evaluated by EMS personnel. Traffic on Fair Lawn Avenue was halted during the investigation process. Passengers on board the train at the time of the strike were discharged; some got into waiting automobiles, others boarded the next westbound train. No word as to whether NJ Transit Police issued the pedestrian a summons.
