Upwards of 20,000 absentee and provisional ballots outstanding in Garrett, Gottheimer Race

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ,  Garrett for Congress issued the following statement from Congressman Scott Garrett on the need to count outstanding ballots in the Fifth District congressional race:

“The surge in absentee ballots in the Fifth District goes to show that our voters are engaged in this election like never before. Election officials expect that the absentee ballots will not be tallied tonight and that there are upwards of 20,000 ballots outstanding. A large number of provisional ballots have also been cast, and election officials tell us that those ballots may not be verified and tabulated for several days. The outcome of this race shouldn’t be called until these ballots can be counted.

“We’ve run an issue-based campaign, as opposed to Josh Gottheimer’s campaign of name-calling. During my entire time on the campaign trail, from Hackensack to Hackettstown, voters shared with me their top concerns, which are creating jobs, revitalizing our economy, and strengthening our national defense. I am confident that the election results will reflect these concerns and that voters will choose to send me back to Washington as their representative.”

Democrat Running for Congress Accused of ‘Manipulating’ Govt. Document

Josh Gottheimer
November 8th 2016
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Hackensack NJ, The Washington Free Beacon just posted an explosive story about Josh Gottheimer’s dirty campaign tactics, which including spreading lies and forging government documents:

Rep. Scott Garrett’s (R., N.J.) reelection campaign sent a cease and desist letter Thursday to the New Jersey Attorney General and the U.S. Attorney for New Jersey after his Democratic opponent, Josh Gottheimer, created false government documents for a campaign ad.

The letter charges that the Gottheimer campaign “deliberately and fraudulently altered the original letter in order to mislead the public and the press to falsely believe that the letter had come from the Office of Congressional Ethics.”

When the allegations first arose, the Gottheimer campaign initially admitted it had manipulated the image in question. The campaign then walked back that claim, saying it had not manipulated the document but instead “the image used in the ad was a visual representation of what office the complaint was filed to,” the New Jersey Star Ledger reported.

Garrett and his campaign have strongly pushed back against the ad and its allegations. Garrett said at a press conference on Wednesday that he is not under investigation and accused Gottheimer of creating a false document to score political points.

“It turns out that in Clinton crony boot camp, they not only teach how to destroy government documents, they teach how to forge them as well,” Sarah Neibart, Garrett’s campaign manager, said in a statement to the Washington Free Beacon.

“Clinton protégé Josh Gottheimer’s forgery of government documents is a clear violation of state and federal law, and we expect that the New Jersey Attorney General and U.S. Attorney General will begin an immediate investigation into these actions,” she added.

I didn’t think anything could be more offensive than the anti-semitic flier circulated about Josh Gottheimer, but Alfred Doblin managed to prove me wrong

Jewish Constituents on The Record’s Hateful Editorial: What They’re Saying

Hackensack NJ, In response to The Record’s hateful editorial published this morning comparing Garrett for Congress Campaign Manager Sarah Neibart to a Nazi, Jewish constituents across New Jersey are speaking out.

Michael Celler, Former Jewish Liaison, Office of the Governor, Livingston, NJ: “I didn’t think anything could be more offensive than the anti-semitic flier circulated about Josh Gottheimer, but Alfred Doblin managed to prove me wrong. I was sickened when I read his comparison of a young Jewish woman to a Goebbels-esque Nazi, it is the most hateful thing Doblin could have said about a Jewish person. As the grandson of four holocaust survivors, I’m appalled by his words, and he should immediately apologize for his disgusting comparison. There is enough anti-semitism in the world, we don’t need more of it perpetuated by Editorial Writers who don’t have a clue.”

Yitz Stern, Teaneck, NJ: “While I have no interest in debating the pros and cons of either candidate in the 5th Congressional District racetomorrow, I do find it appalling that the Record’s Editorial Page Editor chose to make a shameful comparison between how the Nazis spoke back when they were rearing their ugly head and what a young Jewish woman said when she rejected a hateful and unattributed anti-Semitic flyer that was circulating.  I have the privilege of working on Holocaust education with K-12 educators throughout the State. I can assure you that Mr. Doblin’s comments are not the type of message we want to disseminate to our children. Let us remember that when we commemorate Kristallnacht the day after Election Day.”

Rabbi Steven Pruzansky, Teaneck, NJ: “The accusation directed at Sarah Neibart by Alfred Doblin comparing her to Nazism is despicable and beyond the pale of public discourse, and it should be immediately repudiated.”

Councilman Mark J. Schwartz, Teaneck, NJ:  “As a Bergen county resident, a local Teaneck councilman, and most importantly as a Jew, I find it outrageous that The Record would publish such a nasty and defamatory article comparing Ms. Neibart to murderers and war criminals. When I heard that The Record was bought by a national company, I was hopeful, and still am, that perhaps the slanting would straighten up – and we, as Bergen county residents, would receive honest and impartial reporting that we deserve.  It appears though that The Record models themselves after the New York Times, and not the Wall Street Journal. I am demanding that Alfred Doblin apologize to Ms. Neibart, and encourage him to explain why he chose to submit this article mere hours before the polls open on Election Day.”

Mark S. Levenson, West Orange, NJ:  “I was appalled and disgusted by Alfred Doblin’s editorial in today’s Record that compared Sarah Neibart’s statement to “exactly what the Nazis would say.” Doblin’s point could well have been made without trying to drag a person I know  (and respect) through the mud with an out-of-bounds outrageous character assault.   The race for the fifth Congressional District has not distinguished itself for its civility, but to lay the blame on one side–the side Doblin vehemently  disagrees with– is wrong.  Doblin is entitled to trumpet his political views and preferences, but gratuitously throwing “Nazi” barbs at a granddaughter whose family fled Nazi-occupied Europe is beyond the pale.  Trying to justify this by stating that his (Doblin) family also fled Nazi-occupied Europe does not undo the damage done. An apology is owed to Sarah Neibart, and in the same space as was offered up the hurtful insult.”

Ms. Neibart penned an open letter to The Record editor Alfred Doblin regarding his editorial, which can be read below:

Alfred,

I think there’s no doubt we can all agree that this election season has crossed the Rubicon in terms of political rhetoric. But Monday, November 7, 2016 completely changed my world. That’s the day The Bergen Record published my name and called me a Nazi for questioning whether Democratic campaign operatives were involved in a disgusting political stunt. The only reason you’ve attacked me is because I’m a female Republican supporting Congressman Scott Garrett, a man that you’ve chronically made your target of editorial ire.

As a professional political operative, I’ve been astounded at the political tactics of Josh Gottheimer’s campaign throughout this race. Their name-calling began early, as they manipulated the Congressman’s policy stances to paint him as a bad person. It’s not the first time I’ve seen this, as the Left often assumes that if Republicans were smarter or better people, we’d be Democrats, but this was an operation unlike any other. They started by using words like “bigot,” “extremist,” and “racist.” They absurdly alleged that my candidate supports domestic terrorism. They photoshopped a government document in order to allege the Congressman was under investigation for bribery. They’ve even claimed he hates puppies and kittens.

Today, your editorial adopts a tactic straight out of the playbook of these Democrat operatives – just as they protested businesses and people supporting Scott Garrett in order to bully them out of their political positions, you have called me the worst name imaginable, just because of my work for him.

Last week, things reached an unbelievable new low. A flyer was circulated depicting our challenger, Josh Gottheimer, as the devil. We first found out through a media inquiry, and when I saw the image, I felt a sickness in my stomach. This disgusting, hateful flyer enraged me and is not something our campaign would ever, ever consider distributing or condoning. The majority of our campaign staffers are Jewish, as am I. These flyers had been reportedly distributed everywhere – on cars, in train stations, on trees, and in elementary schools. School children had seen this horrific image.

One thing was overwhelmingly clear to me. The distribution of this flyer – though it looked crudely made – seemed like it came from a pretty sophisticated operation. It just didn’t seem feasible that it came from one unhinged lunatic supporter of our campaign. And it was suspicious to me that the Gottheimer campaign “found” these flyers first and alerted the media – and that none of our supporters throughout the community had seen them, and no one in the media had independently seen them before Gottheimer’s press release.

In your editorial this morning, you published my name and my statement suggesting that Gottheimer’s campaign had distributed these flyers. And then you said, “This is — whether Neibart was aware or not — exactly what the Nazis would say.”

You don’t know me, Alfred, but let me tell you about a few things of which I’m “aware.”

I’m “aware” of the persecution that Jews have faced all over the world, simply because of our faith. I’ve stood in a gas chamber in Poland and seen the nail marks down the wall. I’m “aware” of how people are systematically murdered for their heritage or their beliefs. I lived in Egypt under the oppressive government of the Muslim Brotherhood. I’ve been to Rwanda and seen the aftermath of those atrocities. We must be vigilant against hatred, but that conversation is completely separate from whether or not I believe Josh Gottheimer’s campaign would be so insidious as to fake an anti-Semitic flyer and then put out a press release feigning moral outrage.

My statement calling for an investigation into the origins of this flyer didn’t come from any ignorance about the history of my own heritage, it came from my experience as a political operative and my knowledge of Josh Gottheimer’s campaign. Democrats and liberal special interests across this country have taken every vote Congressman Garrett has ever made – whether it’s about protecting the First Amendment or reining in out-of-control spending – and manipulated them to expand the false narrative of the Congressman being hateful and out of touch with the Fifth District, despite repeatedly being elected as their Congressman. Why is it unreasonable for me to assume that a flyer no one in our network knew about was from the Gottheimer campaign? I believe that the Gottheimer campaign thinks that their current charges of bigotry and racism aren’t sinking in, and they wanted to do something to make sure they win Bergen County. You have stayed silent as Gottheimer’s campaign attacked Congressman Garrett’s faith, and yet you use my questions about Democrat campaign tactics as a weapon against me. This demonstrates that not only do you have a political agenda aimed squarely against Congressman Garrett, you are an intolerant man who refuses to recognize that other people are entitled to their own political ideologies without being labeled as racists, bigots or terrorists.

Alfred, you’ve lost the moral high ground to denounce this cycle’s political rhetoric, and you no longer get to call anyone else a bully, as you’ve smugly taken pleasure in doing over the past two years. This election will be over tomorrow, but you have to live with the fact that you cheapened the suffering of both of our families at the hands of cruel men committing unspeakable atrocities – all to make a political point.

NJ Media Bias EXPOSED: Clinton Crony Cover-Up and Collusion

Joshua S

November 7,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ,  Wikileaks revealed the shocking extent of the collusion between the mainstream media and the Clinton campaign. Now, Garrett for Congress has discovered that the New Jersey media is complicit in assisting Clinton protégé and Democrat congressional candidate Josh Gottheimer try to avoid FBI investigation for his violation of federal law.

Josh Gottheimer is currently running a campaign advertisement on New Jersey television in which he has forged government documents in order to fabricate claims that Congressman Scott Garrett is involved in corruption.

Shockingly, Gottheimer’s campaign admitted his deceit to the Star Ledger: “An official with the Gottheimer campaign confirmed that it had produced the ad and manipulated the image,” according to article text posted at 9:17pm on November 2, 2016.

Falsifying government documents is a federal crime under 18 U.S. Code § 912.

This violation of federal law was flagged for New Jersey journalists by Garrett for Congress, and magically, the Star Ledger article was updated at 10:36pm with more cautious language, seemingly to avoid implicating Josh Gottheimer for his crime. This is a blatant attempt by the Star Ledger to help Josh Gottheimer bend the truth.

We’ve seen media bias throughout the campaign as the New Jersey press corps has ignored coverage of charges of impropriety against Gottheimer, but this is the first time we’ve actually caught the press in the act of covering for his campaign.

In the Bergen Record article ,Garrett vs. Gottheimer: Fact-checking North Jersey’s rough ‘n’ tumble 5th Congressional race, the “Fact check ” article is devoid of facts .This article is just another hit job by the Bergen Record. There is no fact checking.

Gottheimer committed a Federal Crime by fraudulently forging a document he used in a commercial. He substituted the letterhead of the Office of Congressional Ethics to an original document that contained no such heading. The letter was from a left wing so called “ethics” organization. The original heading contained the letterhead of that leftist group. This forgery was committed to give the false impression that Congressman Garrett was being investigated by Congress.

Gottheimer Caught Yet Again with another Image Manipulation

Mayor Ghassali ,with Josh

ANOTHER Gottheimer Image Manipulation; Independent Mayor Can No Longer Stay Silent

November 5,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ,  In spite of the fact that Josh Gottheimer’s campaign is under fire with the New Jersey Attorney General and the US Attorney for forging government documents, Gottheimer has been caught ONCE AGAIN manipulating images in an attempt to mislead Fifth District voters.

Friday afternoon, Gottheimer posted an image on Facebook that appeared to suggest Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali was supporting his campaign efforts. But in reality, Mayor Ghassali wasn’t posing with Gottheimer in an effort to support his campaign. Ghassali and Gottheimer were pictured together at an event for His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak.

Ghassali was livid at this manipulation, and as a result, felt he could no longer stay silent on his views on this election. He not only endorsed Congressman Garrett – Ghassali campaigned with Garrett in MontvaleSaturday afternoon.

“As a politically independent mayor, I resent any attempt to misrepresent my appearance at a public event as somehow an endorsement of Josh Gottheimer,” said Ghassali. “ I’ve known Scott Garrett for many years and he’s an honest and trustworthy public servant.  I know and share his conservative principles and support his reelection to Congress in the 5th Congressional District.”

Gottheimer is a liar who has repeatedly shown – this week alone! – that he can’t be trusted to tell Fifth District voters the truth.

Below is the manipulated image that appeared on Gottheimer’s facebook page on Friday afternoon:

8CE0C73E 1669 4067 BD92 0AE188B5D4DB

Below is the original image:

E41C630B C193 4B21 95E8 6B0CD5CA8FCB

Earlier this week, it was discovered that the Gottheimer campaign had violated both state and federal laws including 18 U.S.C. 1001 (false or fraudulent statement or document within the jurisdiction of the legislative branch of the Government of the United States), 18 U.S.C. 912 (impersonating any department or agency of the U.S.), §2C:21-1 (forgery) and §2C:21-4 (falsifying or tampering with records).

New Jersey Attorney General Christopher Porrino and U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman have been alerted to Gottheimer’s illegal actions.

Gottheimer’s campaign admitted his forgery to the Star-Ledger: “An official with the Gottheimer campaign confirmed that it had produced the ad and manipulated the image.”

Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair John Podesta had his password stolen in a surprisingly simple way

JohnPodestaAP
November 5,2016
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, How Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair John Podesta’s email got hacked, is a lesson for all of us and some ideas on how to not let it happen to you. It wasn’t technical, amazingly Podesta had an insecure gmail account .There wasn’t a big security breach on Google’s servers, someone simply tricked Podesta into giving them his password.

According to WikiLeaks on March 19, Podesta received an email from “[email protected]” — a user falsely posing as Google, notifying Podesta that his password had been compromised by someone in Ukraine. The email provided a bit.ly link to change the password.

Podesta forwarded the email to his chief of staff, who then passed along the email to the campaign’s IT team. This is where things go so painfully wrong: The campaign’s IT team incorrectly identified the email phishing for Podesta’s password as legitimate, instructing him to change his password; ouch no 007 needed.

This wasn’t an elaborately technical hack. Rather, this kind of hacking is incredibly common gmail, yahoo and AOL. Hackers often try to trick email users with seemingly familiar addresses — for example, a trusted email address with one character different — and send “poisoned” links. Click on the link, and it can take you to a page that can steal more information, running malicious software. Simpler yet give us your password and well you know the rest of the story.

The Ridgewood blog receives about 5 of these a day, second most to all the “the Prince of Nigeria ” emails looking for account numbers .

Once again the Ridgewood Police are reporting identity fraud on the crime blotter. On October 25 the Ridgewood Police reported that an Emmett Road resident reported a fraud in the past. The resident reported he received a notice from Verizon stating two new phone numbers had been added to his Verizon account. Verizon reported the additional phone lines were added at a Best Buy store in Clarksville, Indiana on October 17. The resident reported he contacted Verizon and the phone lines were canceled. The Verizon customer information could have been phished ,like Podesta or perhaps something even more basic like mail was stolen .

It pays to be extra cautious when responding to emails asking for information or verifying information .

Time to say Goodbye to Turncoat Bergen County Sheriff Mike Saudino aka the “double dipper in chief” and elect Manny Alfonso

Manuel Alfonso
November 5,2016
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Bergen County Sheriff Mike Saudino rakes in more than any other double-dipping sheriff – $138,000 in salary plus $130,000 from pension. Manny Alfonso is eligible for an $80,000 a year pension, but has promised not to collect retirement pay while he serves as sheriff.

Mike Saudino has raked in more than $1.8 million as sheriff – and he still wants more!

Bergen County Sheriff Mike Saudino aka the “double dipper in chief” is about to change his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat. This puts Saudino Bergen County’s top double dipper, $267,987 – $138,000 salary + $129,987 pension as an Emerson Borough police retiree in Democrat hands .

The anticipated party switch came as no surprise, given recent history. In 2014, Saudino back stabbed incumbent Republican County Executive Kathe Donovan and made known his preference for the Democratic candidacy of challenger James Tedesco.

Tedesco ultimately won the County Executive office and Democrats in Bergen armed with Union money have bucked national trends further consolidated power in Bergen under the leadership of Bergen County Democratic Committee Chairman Lou Stellato.

https://theridgewoodblog.net/bergen-county-top-double-dipper-rumored-to-be-changing-party-affiliation/

It’s time to elect a new sheriff in town Manny Alfonso.

In his own words ,this is why:

I was born in Cuba under the repressive regime of Fidel Castro and the Communist Party.  My father Manuel had the courage to speak out against Cuba’s abusive government and he was imprisoned for speaking the truth.

In 1970 my mother Amnery, my sister Elizabeth and I fled to the United States. We eventually settled in Union City, NJ where I attended high school while also working as an EMT. About a year after graduating high school I began my law enforcement career, and shortly thereafter I attended college.  After a lot of hard work, I graduated from Montclair State University (magma cum laude) and undertook graduate studies at Columbia University. Today I am a high ranking executive for a large law enforcement agency.

I know the reality of government oppression and the value of personal freedom and political liberty. I came to the United States as a poor immigrant yet I was able to achieve success and take advantage of the opportunities this country offers.  America gave my family and me one of the most precious gifts in the world – freedom. And because of that freedom I was able to choose a career, raise a family and enjoy the fruits of my hard labor.

How can I ever pay back what America gave me? By putting myself in a position where I can protect my fellow Americans and let them keep more of their hard-earned money.  That position is Bergen County Sheriff.-Manny Alfonso

Why he is running for Bergen County Sheriff :

I have spent my entire adult life in law enforcement and I have worked hard to live up to the integrity and honesty that the career demands. I decided to run for office because I have grown disgusted with the waste and mismanagement I have witnessed in government over my career. I have come to recognize that far too often the people we elect to serve us are serving themselves.

There are too many people in government who succumb to the power and riches of politics. They are more interested in protecting their personal interest than in protecting the interest of the hardworking taxpayers, who are burdened by the high cost of government services.  I believe wholeheartedly that I can run the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department more efficiently and more effectively than it is being run now. I will take politics out of the department and do what is in the best interest of protecting the community. -Manny Alfonso

THE BERGEN RECORD CONFIRMS: No Garrett Tax – And Debunks Other Gottheimer Lies

Gottheimer failed to pay his personal property taxes

November 5,2016

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Hackensack NJ,  Josh Gottheimer is running a campaign based on name-calling and lies – don’t take our word for it – The Record’s exhaustive fact check exposes Gottheimer’s falsehoods and fabrications.

  • THE RECORD: Garrett Tax Charges Are A Gottheimer Lie: “Garrett has not voted to raise taxes, according to Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform, a group that urges public officials to pledge not to raise taxes and tracks whether they follow the pledge. Norquist said that arguing that opposing spending somehow raises taxes is “too weird for words.” (Garrett vs. Gottheimer: Fact-checking North Jersey’s rough ‘n’ tumble 5th Congressional race, The Record, 11/4/2016)
  • THE RECORD: Garrett Supports 9/11 Responders: “Garrett responded with his own ad featuring firefighters, one of whom is a Republican state legislator who contributed to Garrett’s campaign, accusing Gottheimer of telling an “outright lie.” (Garrett vs. Gottheimer: Fact-checking North Jersey’s rough ‘n’ tumble 5th Congressional race, The Record, 11/4/2016)
  • THE RECORD: Gottheimer “assaulted” neighbor and “bought her silence.” “Gottheimer ‘aggressively intimidated and assaulted’ a woman who lived in a Washington, D.C., building where Gottheimer was condo association board president.” (Garrett vs. Gottheimer: Fact-checking North Jersey’s rough ‘n’ tumble 5th Congressional race, The Record, 11/4/2016)
  • THE RECORD: Gottheimer failed to pay his personal property taxes. “Gottheimer “failed to pay his property taxes on the same luxury DC condo six times.” [Gottheimer] “paid the amount due, $2,433 including interest and penalties, in January.” (Garrett vs. Gottheimer: Fact-checking North Jersey’s rough ‘n’ tumble 5th Congressional race, The Record, 11/4/2016)
  • THE RECORD: Gottheimer supports “outrageous Washington spending.” “Gottheimer supported spending millions of tax dollars on studies to determine “if a bumblebee is hairier than a squirrel, to monitor shrimp on a treadmill, and wine-tasting parties in India.” (Garrett vs. Gottheimer: Fact-checking North Jersey’s rough ‘n’ tumble 5th Congressional race, The Record, 11/4/2016)

In Bergen Freeholder Race, Republicans Say Bi-Partisan Board is Crucial

DeNicola, Driscoll, DiDio for Bergen County Freeholder

A win by Democrats on November 8 would mean no GOP representation on board

By Alyana Alfaro • 11/03/16 3:14pm

During last year’s election, the Bergen County Democrats had a clean sweep over Republicans in the county freeholder race. This year, Democrats hope to achieve a similar win with candidates incumbent Freeholder Tom Sullivan, Germaine Ortiz and Mahwah Councilwoman Mary Amoroso. Meanwhile, Freeholder Maura DeNicola, Closter Councilman Robert DiDio and former Freeholder John Driscoll, the Republicans in the race, are fighting for a win and to maintain a significant GOP presence on the county board.

Freeholder DeNicola is running to reclaim her seat this year. She and her running mates agree that Republican victory is critical on November 8 in order to ensure that Bergen County government maintains a bi-partisan balance. DeNicola is one of only two Republicans serving on the board. Freeholder John Felice opted not to pursue re-election this year. If Democrats sweep the election this year, the freeholder board would be made by only by members of the Democratic Party.

“Their election would prohibit the healthy balance necessary for good government,” DeNicola said of her competitors. “Having one party in complete control of any board is never a good thing. We experienced the results of that in the not so distant past—ballooning budgets, rubber stamp votes and a lack of transparency. And balance in government isn’t only about party. It’s about open discussion, strengthening decision-making, keeping issues and the process before the public in the sunshine of openness and transparency.”

Among the otherwise quiet races for Bergen County offices this year, the sheriff’s contest has emerged as the most heated, with a challenger who has accused the incumbent of political cronyism in hiring and “double-dipping.”

It’s certainly been the most visible county election in 2016, with billboards along major roadways and targeted Facebook and TV placements devoted to the race.

The sale of $1.15 billion in bonds to fund the remaining construction of the American Dream Meadowlands shopping and entertainment complex will not take place as scheduled on Friday, a state official said Wednesday.

But Wayne Hasenbalg, the president of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, which owns the land where the $5.2 billion project is being built, added that he does not foresee any impediments to a closing taking place within the next 30 days.

Hackensack NJ, The Attorney General Christopher Porrino and U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman have been formally notified of Josh Gottheimer’s deliberate and fraudulent alteration of a government document by the Office of Congressional Ethics in a desperate attempt to mislead the public.

The actions by the Gottheimer campaign violated both state and federal laws including 18 U.S.C.

Gottheimer’s campaign admitted his forgery to the Star-Ledger: “An official with the Gottheimer campaign confirmed that it had produced the ad and manipulated the image.”

Yesterday, the billboards propping up the lies from the Gottheimer campaign were swiftly pulled.
