DISASTER SURVIVOR ASSISTANCE TEAMS COMING TO MUNICIPALITIES ACROSS BERGEN COUNTY

Hackensack NJ,  Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Board of County Commissioners continue to urge residents and business owners impacted by Hurricane Ida to apply for Federal disaster relief. Starting tomorrow, FEMA will deploy Disaster Survivor Assistance Teams to municipalities across Bergen County to answer questions, assist with registration for FEMA Individual Assistance, and conduct inquiries on the status of existing applications. This support is supplemental to the Bergen County Disaster Recovery Center at the Bergen Community College Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack. Bergen County residents sustaining damage from Hurricane Ida are eligible to seek assistance at any of the following sites below:

Ridgewood NJ, 9/11 remembrances were held across  Bergen county . The Village of Ridgewood lost 12 neighbors on that day and the Village of Ridgewood hosted a 9/11 remembrance to  remember and honor all those tragically lost on 9/11 at Memorial Park at Van Neste Square .

Bergen County Residents and Business Owners Impacted by Hurricane IDA can apply for Federal Disaster Relief

Hackensack NJ,  Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Board of County Commissioners urge residents and business owners impacted by Hurricane IDA to apply for Federal disaster relief. Over the weekend, the County of Bergen received a major disaster declaration from President Biden. The action releases Federal funding to those in Bergen County who sustained losses from September 1 to September 3 as a result of Hurricane Ida. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.

Delivery Man From Little Ferry Charged With Sexual Assault of A Minor

Little Ferry NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ROBERTO CARLOS MANCIA (DOB: 6/29/1998; single; delivery worker) of 66 John Street, Little Ferry, NJ on charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

NJ State Police Seeking to Return Stolen Pieces of Jewelry to Owners

Ridgewood NJ, the New Jersey State Police have recovered several pieces of jewelry during a motor vehicle stop in Monmouth County and are seeking to return the recovered items to the owners.
On August 11, troopers from Troop “C” Hamilton Station stopped a vehicle reported stolen out of Howell Township in Millstone Township. During the stop, troopers recovered several pieces of stolen jewelry within the vehicle.

Fraudulent Unemployment Claims Run Rampant in Bergen County

Glen Rock NJ, during this past week, the Glen Rock Police Department received two additional reports from residents concerning fraudulent unemployment claims.  In each case unknown actor(s) used their personal information to apply for unemployment.  The detective bureau continues to receive ongoing complaints of this nature and is working with the NJ Division of Criminal Justice which is the lead investigating agency on fraudulent unemployment claims being filed throughout the state.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cold Case Task Force Takes a Look at Three Unsolved Bergen Murders

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cold Case Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a number of cold cases in Bergen County and will be releasing new information on each of these investigations via its website.  The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cold Case Task Force consists of detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police who investigate unsolved homicides throughout the county in which all leads were exhausted and the cases remained open and unsolved after a period of three years.  The public is encouraged to visit www.bcpo.net/coldcase for information on these investigations and to visit the site periodically as new cases will be featured each month.

Williams Center in Rutherford to Stay Under Local Control

The County administration has put forward a resolution to initiate transfer ownership of the Williams Center to the Borough of Rutherford and will be presented before the Board of County Commissioners this Wednesday, August 4.

Ridgefield Park NJ , Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of YUN J. KIM (DOB: 03/01/1948; married; unemployed) of 205 Bergen Turnpike, Apt. 1G, Ridgefield Park, NJ on charges of theft by deception and tampering with public records.  The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love, The Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General Office of Investigation New York Field Division under the direction of Special Agent in Charge John F. Grasso and The United States Department of State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security’s New York Field Office under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Keith Byrne.
