Longtime Ridgewood Educator Richard “Dick” LaRue Has Passed Away

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood blog has learned thru the Ridgewood High School Alumni Association of the passing of beloved teacher, coach and counselor Richard “Dick” LaRue.  Dick’s commitment to education spanned a lifetime.  He began his career at RHS teaching English and Spanish, in addition to coaching soccer and track, from 1953 to 1958.  After almost 20 years away, Dick returned to RHS in 1977 to serve as a guidance counselor until his retirement in 1990.

Governor Murphy Signs Legislation Requiring High School Students to Complete Financial Aid Applications to Graduate

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today signed A1181/S2054 to make the completion of a financial aid application form a prerequisite to graduation for public high school and charter school students in New Jersey. Beginning with the 2023-2024 11th grade class, and for two school years thereafter, students and their guardians will be required to complete and submit either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application, as guided by the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), in order to receive their high school diploma. The information on a student’s financial aid application is used to notify them of any financial aid they are eligible to receive if they pursue a postsecondary education.

Ackman, once a Bill Clinton Democrat, voiced his discontent, describing the party’s transformation into “woke martyrs” as something he no longer wishes to be associated with. Ridgewood Crew Launches Into New Year, Dominates at the 2024 Winter Watt Farm Regatta

Lyndhurst NJ, Ridgewood Crew put on an electrifying performance in the 2024 Winter Watt Farm at the Bergen County Rowing Center, its home base. Saturday’s event featured 154 entries from 12 different clubs and Ridgewood brought home 14 medals in total, the most of any club, including five golds, four silvers, and five bronzes.

Severely Damaged RHS Turf Fields Heading for Additional Flooding this Week

Ridgewood NJ, on Monday night Ridgewood Board of Education meeting , the Board admitted that the fields may be heading for additional flooding this week. The turf field is severely damaged.  We are considering all options, working with the Village of Ridgewood, US Army Corps. of Engineers, the NJ DEP and Rep. Gottheimer’s office.
