Rafael Ramos stood quietly in a Bergen County courtroom Friday after pleading guilty in the 2018 roadway death of Edward Rao, a Ridgewood real estate agent.
Ramos, 48, claimed to police at the time that he drove “over something” on West Ridgewood Avenue , and returned to find the 54-year-old Rao lying in the street. Ramos spoke with police at the scene, but left again without mentioning his role in the collision. He was arrested a week later.
Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewood Police Department a 27-year-old woman suffered head and leg injuries when she was hit by a Toyota in Ridgewood around 6:15 Friday Night .
The Glen Rock woman was crossing in the crosswalk on North Maple Avenue near the old Elks Club building when she was hit by a Toyota driven by 51-year-old woman from Washington Township.
The driver stayed on the scene and the women was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson.

Effective Monday, January 13, no one under the age of 14 will be allowed to visit the following departments: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatrics, Labor and Delivery, and Mother Baby. In addition, anyone with flu symptoms, such as coughing, sneezing, runny nose, or fever, should be asked to refrain from visiting.

Ridgewood NJ, Wednesday, January 8, is National Take the Stairs Day and the American Lung Association in New Jersey is encouraging everyone to skip the elevator and take the stairs.
“Stair climbing burns two to three times more calories than walking or running. In fact, just casually climbing stairs requires 8-11 calories of energy per minute,” said Karen Isky, senior development director for the Lung Association. “Also, stair climbing lets you exercise without a gym or any equipment. Just take the stairs at home, at work or while shopping.”
