Ridgewood NJ, We are well into the 2018 holiday season. Black Friday is over. Cyber Monday is over. But holiday shopping is far from over. The seasonal shopping tidal wave won’t break for weeks to come, and this means you can expect big crowds at the malls and frequent home deliveries to online shoppers.
Unfortunately, this season of giving also inspires those who mistakenly think it’s a season of taking. During this time of year, package thieves target neighborhoods, seeking to steal unattended packages delivered while you’re away or at work. Our patrols are on the lookout, but there are a few steps you can take to avoid becoming the victim of package theft.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood ‘s Historic Preservation Commission has “identified the Ridgewood bus station building as having historic significance to the village. The bus station designed by architect J. Robert Gilchrist, is of the 1950s mid-century modern school of design .
Gilchrist, who died in 2008, was a prominent Bergen County architect, whose projects include Continental Plaza in Hackensack and International Crossroads in Mahwah.

Ridgewood NJ, a jury found a physician guilty of stockpiling bomb-making materials in his Ridgewood (Bergen County) apartment. Dr. Roberto Rivera was also acquitted of a charge of creating a risk of widespread harm, while the jury was hung on two weapons charges. Authorities arrested Rivera in November 2012 after a raid of his home uncovered large amounts of materials that can be used to make bombs and instructions on how to construct homemade explosives. Two assault rifles and ammunition had also been seized. During the two-week trial, prosecutors said Rivera started researching chemicals and homemade explosives after being radicalized by the Occupy Wall Street movement in 2011. Neighbors started to see an influx of packages being delivered to his door.

You may also drop in, however, if you do so, you will be taken after those with appointments. If no appointments are made, “Meet the Mayor” will be cancelled for that month. You are misinformed. I did not cut the line at the Winter Fest event and I did not steal a seat from anyone on the hayride. The Ridgewood Walks group had a “back stage” look at Winter Fest. It included a VIP pass on the hay ride, which was offered to us, not requested by us. When I saw that the line was long I made my group wait, right along with the others. The only difference was that we walked around the park instead of standing on line. We had someone hold a place for us. That person let every one else who joined the line know that a party of 8 (not 15 as you mentioned) would be boarding the ride before them.
When I got back to the loading area I spoke to every single person on the line and thanked them for their patience. I wished them a happy holiday and gave them candy canes and other gifts. No one. Not a single person expressed angst. Everyone was cheerful and happy.
It is beyond me how you feel justified to assassinate my character here and on other digital platforms. You saw a mere glimpse of something and made up a negative story about it. If you were truly concerned about the people who were left waiting in line you might have spoken to them yourself. You might have even taken the time to speak to me. Your outrage over something that didn’t happen is confusing.
I appreciate your concern, but the degree in which it was expressed was completely unwarranted. There are lots of people in our beautiful community who work diligently to place a spotlight on all the great things we have to appreciate here. It would be a shame if their desire to do good is snuffed out by untrue accusations and character assassinations. In the future, please make sure your facts are correct before you try to tear people apart. Better yet, look for the good in everyone. I promise you, you’ll find it.

No one should ever ever let someone else step on them. Dehumanize them even in a small way like going in front of them in a line.
We’ve had enough of dehumanization in America with racism, with women non equality in many ways including pay scale, the #Me Too Movement, with religion and with rich folks stepping on and crushing the poor. It is vital to not let anyone else treat you unjustly and it is MANDATORY that it be reported in places like this wonderful BLOG. That is the AMERICAN WAY
I live on Grove Street. Cars and heavy trucks thunder by from 6am to 6.30pm. Speed limit enforcement is sporadic and has no discernable effect. This is a year long problem. What’s this got to with leaf collection? Read on. I try to minimize encroaching into the street with my leaf pile for obvious reasons. The collection schedules are not met and the traffic blows the leaves back on to my property. I carefully rake them back into the street. The collection schedules are not met. Solution: just cut out this sorry excuse of a service and reduce our property taxes by the equivalent cost of a full landscaper service.
