Wyckoff NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the investigation of a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Saturday, August 1, 2020, near the intersection of Wyckoff Avenue and Newtown Road in Wyckoff, NJ. The investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Wyckoff Police Department under the direction of Chief David Murphy.

Vehicle Accident Puts Truck in Back Yard in Wyckoff

Wyckoff NJ, Yesterday at 12:02 PM the Wyckoff Fire Department  was dispatched for an motor vehicle accident on William Way. The vehicle was traveling on route 208 S and left the roadway and ended up in the back yard of a house on William Way. The driver was not injured. The Wyckoff fire Department assisted removing the debris from and around the vehicle for removal.

Wyckoff Police Officers Perform CPR, Revive 3-year Old Boy

Wyckoff NJ, on July 24, 2020 at approximately 12:30 PM, Wyckoff officers were dispatched to the Wyckoff YMCA on a report of a 3-year-old boy who was not breathing. Arriving officers observed that the boy was being treated by YMCA staff and was unresponsive and cyanotic. Wyckoff officers Robert Schlossberg and Michael Scalise performed CPR on the child while attempting to clear his airway of any obstructions. The boy began to breathe on his own and was transported to the hospital by the Wyckoff Ambulance Corps and Paramedics from Valley Hospital.

Wyckoff NJ, The Wyckoff Police Department needs your help! On Wednesday, June 17, 2020 a restaurant located in the Mayflower Shopping Center at 85 Crescent Ave was vandalized.
The Wyckoff Police Department’s investigation so far has determined that this crime occurred between approximately 3:45am and 4:45am.
We are asking neighborhood residents, especially those living on or off of Crescent Ave, Hurley Ave, and Godwin Ave (south of Crescent) to review any security camera and/or video doorbell footage from that time. Racist Graffiti Spray Painted on Doors and Windows of Wyckoff Eatery

Wyckoff NJ, On Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at approximately 07:27 hrs., patrol units from the Wyckoff Police Department were dispatched to the Gourmet Garden Restaurant at 85 Crescent Avenue on a report of “Corona Virus” and Bias graffiti spray painted on the doors, windows and sidewalk area of the business. The Wyckoff Police Department Detective Bureau and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded to process the scene. In consultation with The Bergen County Prosecutors Office, they have identified this as a Bias Crime. The investigation thus far shows no other reason for the crime other than the ethnicity of the business and its owners. At this time, if caught, the actor(s) will face charges consistent with Bias Intimidation and Criminal Mischief. If the investigation reveals additional information, other charges may be applicable.

Wyckoff Lowers Property Taxes

Wyckoff NJ, the Township of Wyckoff  has approved a drop in the municipal property tax rate. The change was approved by the Township Committee at its budget hearing,  lowering property taxes on the average home valued at $793,800, by $5.56 to $2,002.76.

The 2020 municipal budget, excluding grants, is $20,087,460, up $366,749 or 1.86%.  The municipal amount to be raised by taxes, excluding the state-mandated $1.56 million for the library, is $11,940,626, up $4,123 or 0.03% . The municipal tax rate is down 0.00007 cents per $100 assessed valuation from 0.253 to 0.2523.

Wyckoff Police Department respond to a smoke condition in one of the lodges at the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat

Wyckoff NJ, according to Wyckoff Police, early this morning (12/18/19), Officers from the Wyckoff Police Department responded to an active smoke condition in one of the lodges at the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat. P.O. Oldewurtel immediately arrived on scene, and confirmed an active smoke condition in the Oak Lodge. He reported that the residents of the building had been evacuated by the staff and he entered the building, despite a heavy smoke condition, to confirm that all the residents and staff had been evacuated. Shortly thereafter, Sgt Pinches, P.O. Plisich, P.O. Bakelaar and P.O. Christopher arrived on scene and immediately began to search for any parties in need of medical assistance. They located three staff members complaining of difficulty breathing and chest pain. They were able to safely escort the patients through a chaotic scene and render first aid in the back of their patrol vehicles, which were parked a safe distance from the Oak Lodge. All of the officers involved also worked together to help coordinate the arrival and departure of numerous BLS and ALS units, which were having difficulty navigating through the scene.
