Ridgewood NJ, a new Cato national survey finds that self‐censorship is on the rise in the United States. Nearly two-thirds—62%—of Americans say the political climate these days prevents them from saying things they believe because others might find them offensive. The share of Americans who self‐censor has risen several points since 2017 when 58% of Americans agreed with this statement.

Clearly we have seen this in action even on a local level in Ridgewood. Children just need time to grow and mature like I did. We live in the worst age possible for children. God bless em.

They say the 1950s was a conformist time. No way. That was a great time for kids. THE BEST.

Nowadays everyone diagnosing the fun and life and desire for adventure out of kids and nothing being wrong.

And so-called specialists who don’t know what they are talkin about with their fancy, meaningless psyhobabble, nowadays diagnosing the kids and squeezing the spirit and life out of kids.

The 1950s was great time for kids; I remember being left alone to play after school in untrammeled nature with any friends I wanted to ,; no forced , rigid play dates. God, if I had been a child now , I would have been diagnosed with every ADHD and autism label they make up.

“Autism Spectrum” fancy that, that is enogh to kill the creative lively spirit out of a growing chid. or ADHD and the rest.

No wonder there are so many teen suicides. By that time their spirit is dead, they no longer can respond to life , because they were not allowed to naturally respond. They were made to be walking zombies.

We live in a greedy, robotic world, with stupid so-called educator specialists trying to trap lively, imaginative, kids who want to run run run and explore outside, trap them in stifling all day kindergarten.

I remember myself at that age. Fun and freedom that’s what I craved. Even now..

Are Schools Squelching the Intelligence of American Children?

Three education tips to grow a young mind.

It’s no secret that American students are sadly falling behind. One look at the Nation’s Report Card tells us that not even half of students at the 4th, 8th, or 12th grade levels are able to achieve proficiency in math, reading, history, or any number of other subjects.

To an outsider, such scores would lead to the conclusion that American students are dumb.

But American children are not dumb; instead, they are the victims of education methods which fail to inspire true learning.

In 1923, British educator Charlotte Mason penned a work entitled Towards A Philosophy of Education. In it, she posited that children have far greater intellectual ability than adults give them credit for:

“Our schools turn out a good many clever young persons, wanting in nothing but initiative, the power of reflection and the sort of moral imagination that enables you to ‘put yourself in his place.’ These qualities flourish upon a proper diet; and this is not afforded by the ordinary school book, or, in sufficient quantity by the ordinary lesson.”

So how do we give this “proper educational diet” to our children? Ms. Mason suggests three ways:

1. Avoid Regurgitating Facts

“But the children ask for bread and we give them a stone; we give information about objects and events which mind does not attempt to digest but casts out bodily (upon an examination paper?). But let information hang upon a principle, be inspired by an idea, and it is taken with avidity and used in making whatsoever in the spiritual nature stands for tissue in the physical.”

2. Read books

“[A]s soon as a young child begins his education he does so as a student. Our business is to give him mind-stuff, and both quality and quantity are essential. Naturally, each of us possesses this mind-stuff only in limited measure, but we know where to procure it; for the best thought the world possesses is stored in books; we must open books to children, the best books; our own concern is abundant provision and orderly serving.”

3. Avoid Excessive Explanation

“I believe that all children bring with them much capacity which is not recognized by their teachers, chiefly intellectual capacity, (always in advance of motor power), which we are apt to drown in deluges of explanation or dissipate in futile labours in which there is no advance.”

Is it time we cultivate the intellectual abilities of American children and give them an education which actually encourages their minds to grow?

‘Cool kids’ can go on to become losers in later life, study finds

Being the “cool kid” might seem ideal at school but it can land you in difficulties later on in life, according to a new study.

The work, “Whatever Happened to the Cool Kids?”, was published in the journal Child Development by researchers at the University of Virginia, and looked at the lives of more than 180 teenagers in America over a decade.

But the results might not be to the liking of those who want to rule the roost at their schools.

According to the study, teenagers who tried to act cool and were popular during their younger years had a higher risk of experiencing problems as adults, including alcohol and drug abuse, and becoming involved in crime.

So ‘cool teens’ – made popular in films by characters such as James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause and Rachel McAdams inMean Girls – may go on to lose out.

“If You Question Authority, You Are Mentally Ill”, Report Finds

This post is about an issue that is by now a bit dated (though the topic as such certainly isn’t), but we have only just become aware of it and it seemed to us worth rescuing it from the memory hole. In late 2013, the then newest issue of the American Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM for short) defined a new mental illness, the so-called “oppositional defiant disorder” or ODD.

As TheMindUnleashed.org informs us, the definition of this new mental illness essentially amounts to declaring any non-conformity and questioning of authority as a form of insanity. According to the manual, ODD is defined as:

[…] an “ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior,” symptoms include questioning authority, negativity, defiance, argumentativeness, and being easily annoyed.

In short, as Natural News put it: According to US psychiatrists, only the sheeple are sane.

Every time a new issue of the DSM appears, the number of mental disorders grows – and this growth is exponential. A century ago there were essentially 7 disorders, 80 years ago there were 59, 50 years ago there were 130, and by 2010 there were 374 (77 of which were “found” in just seven years). A prominent critic of this over-diagnosing (and the associated over-medication trend) is psychologist Dr. Paula Caplan.
