Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 195, which permits municipalities and counties to impose additional restrictions on the hours of operation of non-essential retail businesses, food and beverage establishments, and recreation and entertainment businesses after 8:00 p.m. The Order prohibits municipalities and counties from imposing restrictions that prevent dining establishments from arranging for the pickup or delivery of goods or otherwise limiting their scope of operations. The Order will take effect immediately.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood School system sent out a letter inform informing parents and gradians of the following Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) positive cases. Two individuals at Ridgewood High School have tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19); these cases are unrelated to each other. Two individuals at Benjamin Franklin Middle School and two individuals at George Washington Middle School have tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19); these cases were unrelated to each other and the individuals were not within the school buildings.
INDIANAPOLIS IN, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today granted Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Eli Lilly and Company’s (NYSE: LLY) investigational neutralizing antibody bamlanivimab (LY-CoV555) 700 mg. Bamlanivimab is authorized for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 in adults and pediatric patients 12 years and older with a positive COVID-19 test, who are at high risk for progressing to severe COVID-19 and/or hospitalization. Bamlanivimab should be administered as soon as possible after a positive COVID-19 test and within 10 days of symptom onset. The authorization allows for the distribution and emergency use of bamlanivimab, which is administered via a single intravenous infusion.
Twp of Washington NJ, Twp of Washington continues to deal with a raise in COVID cases. The Township staff are currently working remotely after a member of the administrative staff who has limited interaction with the rest of the staff has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, that employee will be self-quarantined and will have to follow all CDC and Health Department guidelines before returning to work in approximately two weeks. All employees have been notified, and the building had its regularly scheduled weekly full sanitation on November 8, 2020. Out of an abundance of caution, the Town Hall Staff will all work remotely for the week of November 9, 2020.
Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy announced additional restrictions on businesses saying they are necessary due to recent state data on COVID-19. Restaurants, bars and casinos, clubs, and lounges must close at 10 p.m., and bar seating will no longer be allowed. The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) in New Jersey, which represents thousands of small businesses in the state, reacted to that news. All restaurants must close indoor premises by 10 p.m. cannot and cannot reopen until 5 p.m., effective Thursday, Nov. 12th. Outdoor dining can continue past 10 p.m., as can takeout and delivery service, and heated dining bubbles will be allowed, according to Governor Phil Murphy, who addressed the media this afternoon at the War Memorial in Trenton.
Copenhagen Denmark, according to Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security , Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced this week that Denmark will cull all mink at farms across the country, including those used for breeding, in order to mitigate the risk of zoonotic transmission of SARS-CoV-2. Mink have been identified as animals capable of transmitting SARS-CoV-2 to humans, and there have been multiple examples of outbreaks among mink populations in Denmark and elsewhere. Mink are bred in Denmark and other countries for their pelts.
Wayne NJ, Students will begin a full week of virtual learning on Monday, as the K-12 district comes to grips with more potential cases of COVID-19 than its contact tracers can handle, school officials said. Sports and other extracurricular activities also will be suspended until at least Nov. 16.
Washington DC, Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 638,000 in October, and the unemployment rate declined to 6.9 percent. These improvements in the labor market reflect the continued resumption of economic activity that had been curtailed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Ridgewood NJ, according to Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security , researchers from Harvard and Boston Universities (Massachusetts, US) analyzed exposure and infection risks among 104 employees at a Boston-area grocery store. The study, published in BMJ, also evaluated the employees’ mental health, specifically evaluating for signs of anxiety and depression. As part of a testing program mandated by the local government, all employees underwent PCR-based diagnostic testing, and 21 tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. Notably, 76% of the positive employees were not symptomatic at the time of testing. Employees whose jobs involved direct interaction with customers were 5 times more likely to test positive for SARS-CoV-2 than those without direct customer contact. Among 99 participants who completed the mental health assessments, 24 reported “at least mild anxiety” and 8 “screened positive for at least mild depression.” Individuals who were able to practice effective social distancing at work were less likely to experience both anxiety and depression. Additionally, those who were able to commute to work without using public transportation (e.g., walk, bicycle, private vehicle) exhibited a 90% reduction in the risk depression.
Oakland NJ, Motor Vehicle Commission locations in Oakland and Runnemede are now closed because employees in both locations tested positive for COVID-19.
The locations will reopen on Nov. 13 and Nov. 17 respectively. Other agency locations in Paterson, Rahway, Washington and West Deptford are still closed after having infected employees as well.
According to the NJMVC , the Rahway and Washington locations are set to reopen on Saturday; West Deptford will remain closed until Nov. 12 and Paterson will reopen Nov. 14.
