COVID-19 scams targeting college students

bergen community college

Ridgewood NJ, Hey college students: even though you’re likely far from campus, scammers are still trying to find you.

Maybe you or your friends have gotten an email claiming to be from the “Financial Department” of your university. The email tells you to click on a link to get a message about your COVID-19 economic stimulus check — and it needs to be opened through a portal link requiring your university login. Don’t do it. It’s a phishing scam. If you click to “log in,” you could be giving your user name, password, or other personal information to scammers, while possibly downloading malware onto your device.

Reader says ,”I don’t understand why Fauci’s face needs to be displayed everywhere like this guy is some kind of a Messiah”

“I don’t understand why Fauci’s face needs to be displayed everywhere like this guy is some kind of a Messiah. What makes him such a genius? Don’t we have other people with experience who could do this job? It is Trump who picks people like Fauci and then through idiocies he speaks makes these people look good and more important than they really are. Fauci needs to disappear for the comment about masks a couple of months ago. That comment alone could be responsible for many infections and deaths. And the excuse he is using is just insulting. He lost that little respect I had for him.”

Reader says ,”Playing doubles for pickleball differs significantly from tennis doubles”

Pickleball Court Dimensions 1024x576 1

“I am on the Board or work with a number of tennis/pickleball facilities. Playing doubles for pickleball differs significantly from tennis doubles. With pickleball you have the same 4 players, but you’re playing in a space that’s 40% the size of a tennis court. Due to this reduced space it’s common for players to be within 3-5 feet of each other; and while striving to make the next shot, grunt, talk or otherwise project numerous oral and nasal particles into this reduced space placing their fellow players at risk.
In addition to standard safety practices such as bringing and using hand sanitizers, to play pickleball doubles many clubs have adopted the following rules:
1) Wear masks while playing
2) Bring a ball to be used by team 1 and a separate ball to be used by team 2. Team 2 would not use their hands to touch team 1’s ball and vice versa
3) Players sign a waiver stating that they are playing their own risk and hold their fellow players and the club (or whomever owns the facility) harmless.
These rules are easy to follow and meet the goals of all concerned”

Reader Calls Murphy’s layoff Threats “Classic Bureaucratic Strategy”

gov phil murphy nj generic 041518 1523813414516 5330616 ver1.0 640 3601

“Classic bureaucratic strategy. Pick services to shut down that have maximum impact and cause maximum distress to the public. Same strategy was used during government “shutdowns” when they closed parks to inflict as much pain as possible.

When this clown proposes a meaningful plan for coping with the revenue shortfall, then maybe start to pay attention.”

money

“This is what happens when the Government becomes too large and has way to many programs of assistance. The highest income taxes, property taxes, sales tax, gas tax, toll roads. The cost of living is out of control. People run out of this State as soon ad they can yet the State insists on being a Sanctuary State. Giving away billions to those who were oppressed in their own country and catering to their wishes. With a small and nimble Government this State could be in a much better place. Take a five mile high look and you’ll see all the waste. It’s not an easy task nor should it be. Just do it and so it now.”
