Hawthorne NJ, Several Hawthorne Police units were dispatched in connection with a Sunday afternoon, 03/22, 911 telephone call reporting a “disturbance” at the Jembro Store, 111 Wagaraw Road, Hawthorne. Arriving officers quickly determined that the “disturbance,” verbal in nature only, was resultant from a misunderstanding between a manager and employee, with no police action required. However, officers noted that the Jembro Store, and another store in the same strip mall, were both open in direct violation of NJ Governor Phil Murphy’s “essential retail businesses only” proclamation. Police ordered both stores to be vacated and closed immediately. No summonses were issued.

Ridgewood NJ, The Daily Treat had to close their doors because there were not enough “pick-up” orders to make ends meet. All the wait staff, the kitchen staff, out of work for now. This is one of a million sad stories. If we all stay in quarantine, and we all follow the rules, hopefully all our local businesses can be back soon. Meanwhile if you feel so inclined, the DT has an email address and you can write to John to wish him the best during this difficult time. A kind word can go a long way. [email protected]

Midland Park NJ, To our loyal customers and patrons-Although we originally hoped to celebrate our 5-year anniversary this past week, we are rightfully shifting to a full curbside takeout and delivery. While the operation is a challenge, still in the works, so far it has been a success. We are offering our traditional Pub menu, but also have added “Meal Deals Packages” menu that feeds a family of 4, “Lent Specials” and the option to order in advance for the next day.  You tell us when you want to pick up and it will be ready. Our neighborhood liquor store is in full operation, allowing for social distancing with one patron at a time for purchases. Also ask about our Growler Club for purchase for ice cold draft beer. We are going to do what we can to give people another option for dinner, while doing everything with safe distancing and constant monitoring of public announcements and regulations.
