Ridgewood NJ,Police Traffic Officers Association of Bergen County has launched a campaign In conjunction to keep pedestrians safe , ” In conjunction with the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey ,New Jersey Pedestrian Safety Coalition, the Police Traffic Officers Association of Bergen County is geared toward educating everyone the importance of pedestrian safety. It’s important for pedestrians to look both ways, but it’s equally important to wait for the WALK signal when crossing at a controlled intersection.”

Murphy Administration Looks to Jam More ,”Affordable Housing” ie Over-sized Development Down Taxpayers Throats

Trenton NJ.  The Murphy Administration today announced a roadmap for spending $60 million in Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF) funding to advance affordable housing across the state. The funding, which was diverted in previous years, was restored as part of Governor Murphy’s FY2020 budget and is now available for pre-applications. The Department of Community Affairs (DCA) will administer the funds to create stronger, fairer communities in which people can afford to live.

“beautiful Saddle River received a death sentence with that Rosie O’Donnell property development. Hundreds of units for low income families. I almost threw up when I saw the announcement yesterday. Socialism is all about mixing people together and bringing them to the same miserable quality of life level. NJ is fast progressing into a Berlin wall era eastern sh!thole. I lived that misery and it is following me over here. Most shocking is that people do not even care with very few exceptions.”

New Jersey May Finally Require Developers Pay Fair Share for Transit Improvements

Ridgewood NJ, the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee released S368 (Cryan/Weinberg). The bill permits municipalities to require developers to make contributions for mass transit improvements.

“This legislation is important because it will make sure developers pay their fair share of mass transit costs associated with new developments. New developments create more demand on mass transit systems, and create more traffic in the area. New Jersey is one of the most densely populated states in the country, and we have some of the worst air quality in the nation,” said Jeff Tittel, Director of the New Jersey Sierra Club. “Developers should be required to help offset the burden that their developments put on mass transit.”

We have arrived at a that poor place ..just look up and down to the shoddy roadways and it is looking like
RIDGEWOOD As we knew it -and invested in the form of time ,efforts & cost to maintain nice homes and paying high : school & local /state taxes -is well on its way to another cheesy mess of a poorly run town.Roads are also a disgrace,

Time to get out..sadly..Last one please kick the last can of
regrets over onto VOR CITY HALL/ship of fools .

unlikely anyone there gives a damm about anything.

“To my fellow residents what the hell is going to happen another 3 to 5 years in the village of Ridgewood with all this expense. The services are not the same they are dwindling little by little. All village departments are short on staffing. Yes we have great school system great police fire EMTs sanitation recycling do a great job but come on, the village Ridgewood It’s not what are used to be. It’s no more Village it’s turning into a city”

Just Beating the Deadline, Paramus Agrees to affordable-housing

Paramus NJ, the Borough of Paramus has approved an affordable-housing agreement with Fair Share Housing Center that calls for 259 units in the borough.The Borough Council on Monday night approved the settlement agreement, which identifies 259 units of realistic development potential. Councilman Chris DiPiazza, saying he wanted to get a second opinion from another attorney, cast the lone dissenting vote.

Mayor Richard LaBarbiera said this week was the borough’s deadline, as its immunity against builder’s remedy lawsuits was about to end. Such lawsuits can result in high-density development being forced on a municipality.

“The point is that none of our councils, including the current one, have stood up to fight these problems.
Worse, they have never really spent the time to deal with these issues head on and try to find creative solutions.
They could support litigation with other towns against these proposals. They could figure out a way to satisfy the obligations in the meantime, such as by designating one site for purely low income rather than 10% of numerous sites. Then, you would have had one site with 35 units rather than 4 sites totalling a couple of hundred. They could focus on the fact we had hundreds of beutiful apartment buildings, catering to a wide range of incomes, and we didn’t need to build shoddy units on top of the rail road tracks.”

“I got out last year as I viewed this as having an enormous impact on Ridgewood’s quality of life and various other factors that will gradually decrease property values.

Maybe a lot of Ridgewood’s “specialness” was realtor hype, but there were things about Ridgewood that made it a cut above similar towns in the region.

If you plan to stay in Ridgewood, then I predict that come time to sell your home, you will not get what you thought you would and the days of selling Ridgewood houses in a couple of weeks are long gone.”

“Don’t any of you realize the state of New Jersey. An and would force us to permit this type of construction or worse? Like them or hate them it is quite irrelevant who is in the town politics. It is our state courts from decades of liberal judges that have been forcing these stupid developments. The reason they are building giant apartments on top of train track is because the state has set tax incentives to do so : see Waldwick station and Allendale etc. The state of NJ thinks this will fight global warming (seriously). Also the developments are being forced on us ever since the mount olive decision in the 80s. See this as an example:

Reader asks how many villagers who worked hard their whole lives have in fact given up their colonials, and ranches, and tudors to go live in these apartments by the rail road tracks?

“The diversity point overlooks the lies told to us.
We were told these luxury developments would be perfect for villagers to downsize into. They would keep people from having to move away because their 4 bedroom houses were no longer needed and two bedroom places would be perfect.
So, no diversity, just moving old folks down to live by the railroad tracks.
I wonder how many villagers who worked hard their whole lives have in fact given up their colonials, and ranches, and tudors and their backyards and their neighborhoods to sign up to go live in these apartments by the rail road tracks?
That insidious lie was part of the whole scam.”
