Mahwah NJ, a collision involving a rolled over dump truck reeked havoc for drivers on Route 287 northbound in Mahwah on Wednesday morning, 10/05. Mahwah firefighters were dispatched to the incident based on reports that the truck’s driver was entrapped in the vehicle. Basic and advanced EMS support was also dispatched to the scene. Motor vehicle traffic northbound near milepost 64.0 was restricted to one (1) lane while NJ State Police investigated the crash. No information was readily available regarding the extent of injuries sustained by the driver.

Paramus NJ, Governor Phil Murphy visited East Brook Middle School today to announce a $6.5 million investment in American Rescue Plan funds toward a statewide school security initiative to collect and digitize school building blueprints and make them available to first responders. Accurate and uniform maps are critical to enable law enforcement personnel to swiftly respond to emergencies in unfamiliar environments.

Paramus NJ, for the third time this summer Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus was the scene of a “swatting” incident . Swatting is a criminal harassment tactic of deceiving an emergency service (via such means as hoaxing an emergency services dispatcher) into sending a police or emergency service response team to another person’s address. This is triggered by false reporting of a serious law enforcement emergency, such as a bomb threat, murder, hostage situation, or a false report of a mental health emergency, such as reporting that a person is allegedly suicidal or homicidal and may or may not be armed, among other things.

Mahwah NJ, a multiple vehicle crash involving a flipped over roll-off container truck and an entrapment forced the temporary closure of Route 287 northbound near mile marker 64 in Mahwah on Monday morning, 08/22. Mahwah Fire Department, was assisted by Franklin Lakes Fire Department, and a Ramsey EMS ambulance was also observed at the scene. At least one (1) victim with a life threatening traumatic injury was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. No information was available regarding the condition of other victims, if there were any.

Trenton NJ, Colonel Patrick J. Callahan of the New Jersey State Police was featured on News 12 to dispel the rumor that a ticket blitz by the State Police would occur where fines for summons would be increased. Although Colonel Callahan confirmed that this is fictitious, he did reaffirm that troopers are always on patrol 24/7 enforcing traffic violations. New Jersey State Police want to remind everyone to obey traffic laws and to drive safely.

Ridgewood NJ, the New Jersey State Police are reporting a raise in traffic deaths already this year. The state is reporting hundreds of crashes and fatalities from the start of this year to now. Fatalities have increased from 274 in 2020, then 305 in 2021, and this year now at 358.

Twp. of Washington NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of DARIEL PEREZ-GRULLON (DOB: 8/30/1999; single; unemployed) and LUIS GUZMAN-ENCARNACION (DOB: 05/23/1999; single; employed as a kitchen worker) of the Bronx, NY on carjacking-related charges. These arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love, the Washington Township Police Department under the direction of Chief Richard Skinner, and the Teaneck Police Department under the direction of Chief Glenn O’Reilly.

Ridgewood Nj, a medical episode may have been the cause of a Tuesday morning, 05/17, crash involving a fully loaded box truck on Route 17 southbound near the Garden State Parkway in Paramus. The truck veered off of the highway and came to rest in a storm water retention basin. Despite the mishap, no damage was visible on the vehicle. Paramus Police, Paramus EMS, and New Jersey State Police Troop “D” Garden State Parkway Patrol, Bloomfield Barracks units and personnel responded to the incident. An employee of the truck’s owner drove it away after a heavy duty tow truck removed it from the retention basin. Police at the scene provided no information regarding the condition of the truck’s original driver.
