Upper Saddle River NJ, Assemblywomen Holly Schepisi on the New Jersey’s paper bag ban , ” Yesterday New Jersey voted to ban PAPER BAGS. No one, including the sponsor of the bill, could explain why we are the ONLY State in the nation to ban recyclable paper bags other than “we are the most environmentally progressive State.” If that statement was true and if we truly wanted to stop environmental harm in this State why have the legislators and the Governor refused to move forward any legislation that would stop the massive overdevelopment taking place in each of our communities?”

Jersey City NJ, Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal today announced that nine individuals have been charged with conspiring to use stolen identities to obtain New Jersey digital driver’s licenses which they used to fraudulently purchase and finance motor vehicles and watercrafts worth more than $1.3 million at dealerships in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Arrests 77 Dangerous foreign nationals from New Jersey

Hackensack NJ,  A Peruvian national in the country illegally, who has an Interpol warrant in Peru for aggravated robbery, is among 77 foreign nationals arrested during recent enforcement actions conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in New Jersey from July 22 to August 20, targeting individuals with arrests or convictions for assault, domestic violence, other crimes involving victims.

Data captured from July 13 to Aug. 20 show that ICE officers arrested more than 2,000 at-large individuals living illegally in the U.S., or who are removable from the U.S. due to their criminal histories. About 85 percent of those arrested nationally by ICE on immigration charges also had criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.

Department of Justice Seeks Data From Governors of NY, NJ, PA and MI that Issued COVID-19 Orders that May Have Resulted in Deaths of Elderly Nursing Home Residents

Paramus NJ, the Justice Department requested COVID-19 data from the governors of states that issued orders which may have resulted in the deaths of thousands of elderly nursing home residents. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan required nursing homes to admit COVID-19 patients to their vulnerable populations, often without adequate testing.

For example, on March 25, 2020, New York ordered: “No resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to [a nursing home] solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19. [Nursing homes] are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized resident who is determined medically stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission.”

Paramus NJ, Department store chain Lord & Taylor is closing two dozen stores for good including 3 in New Jersey as it continues to search for a buyer to restructure under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and keep its business alive. Deals will be up to 40% off, the company said Thursday morning, as it released a complete list of those shops set to liquidate.

How New Jersey is Coping with COVID-19

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States have been on the increase since March 2020. It is currently the country with the highest number of Coronavirus infections. The country’s national and state government has been on the frontline to come up with ways to cope with the effects of the virus. 

The two, in collaboration with other stakeholders, are also looking for ways to reduce the rate of infection. New Jersey, in particular, has devised measures that will help its citizens better handle and cope with the emotional, financial, and economic impacts of this disease that emerged late last year.

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Village Manager Heather Mailander ,the Village of Ridgewood currently has a response rate to the U.S. Census of 81%.  Our goal is a 100% response rate.  U.S. Census takers are currently going door to door to conduct the U.S. Census, for those who have not yet filed their census form.  They will have identification badges to identify them as U.S. Census takers.

42% of COVID-19 deaths in America Come From 3 States New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts

Ridgewood NJ,despite the recent coronavirus surge in southern states, three states—New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts—account for about 42 percent of COVID-19 deaths in America.

Nearly 7,000 residents and staff of long-term care facilities, including nursing and veterans homes, died from COVID-19 after the Murphy Administration issued directives that may have prevented their ability to keep infected patients from being admitted.

Murphy Signs Executive Order Extending Public Health Emergency Continues Suspension of all Constitutional Rights in New Jersey

Trenton NJ,  Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 171. The Order extends the Public Health Emergency that was declared on March 9, 2020 through Executive Order No. 103, which was previously extended on April 7, May 6, June 4, and July 2. Under the Emergency Health Powers Act, a declared public health emergency expires after 30 days unless renewed.

Camden NJ, Eleven people have been charged for their alleged roles in a large-scale conspiracy to commit bank fraud over in southern New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania over the course of four years, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced today.

The complaints unsealed today charge each of the defendants with bank fraud conspiracy in connection with a scheme that used hundreds of fraudulent accounts to defraud several major banks of $6 million and then launder that money and send it overseas to other conspirators.
