Ridgewood NJ, in May of 2021 Ridgewood Fire Chief Van Goor divulged some interesting information to combat the rash of misinformation circulating in the mainstream and over social media about the per diem EMT issue . The Chief in an EMT FAQ rattled off a litany of Firefighter qualifications , who responds to emergency medical calls  and yes, the modifications have already been tested in February 2021 when no per diem EMT’s  were available .

Ridgewood NJ, recently there has been a renewed push of disinformation as to the defunding of the Per Diem EMT Program . To set the matter straight the Ridgewood is re-posting the May 10, 2021 article recounting all the FACTS in detail . For the record this blog has always been a big fan of the volunteer EMT’s in the Village of Ridgewood , but certain agenda pushing residents have tried to use this event to further their own aims ,distort the public record and hurt Ridgewood Emergency Services Reputation.

Unfortunately  candidates  Winograd and Weitz driven by special interests have opted to engage in a disinformation campaign in an attempt to misinform voters .

The Mayor Wins Candidates’ Night Hands Down and Proved She is Uniquely Qualified for the Village Council

Ridgewood NJ, the League of Women Voters Ridgewood Village Council Candidates’ Night went about as expected , the questions crafted were clearly meant to promote the agenda driven pet projects and special interests of Winograd and Weitz and their sponsors , no surprise there .  Weitz showed his total lack of knowledge of  the village by repeating well crafted pre written answers that often had nothing to do with the questions and making bold pronouncements to appease his handlers . Weitz came off having no clue and no experience and at one point actually promoted the idea that people who play pickleball are too feeble to make the Village Council meetings person?

UPDATE: Male Bicyclist Struck and Critically Injured by a Passenger Vehicle at the Intersection of Prospect Street and Grove Avenue in Glen Rock

Glen Rock  NJ, a male juvenile bicyclist was struck and critically injured by a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Prospect Street and Grove Avenue, Glen Rock early Saturday afternoon, 09/24. The victim was transported by a Ridgewood EMS ambulance to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. EMS support during transport was enhanced by an accompanying paramedic team from The Valley Hospital. Bergen County Sheriff’s officers and Ridgewood Police officers assisted with traffic control at/near the crash site. Police and Sheriff’s officers escorted the ambulance to Saint Joseph’s. The accident investigation is being conducted by Glen Rock Police. The driver of the passenger vehicle involved remained on the scene and was cooperating with police officers.

Store Ceiling Falls on Patron in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, an adult female occupant of a retail store located at 41 Hudson Street, Ridgewood was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital as a result of non-life threatening injuries she sustained when a portion of the storefront’s dropped ceiling collapsed on her late Saturday afternoon, 08/20. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Deparment, and Ridgewood EMS personnel and equipment responded to aid the victim. There was no structural damage reported.

Driver Loses Control and Takes Out Utility Pole In Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, an adult female occupant of a silver colored Honda SUV sustained non-life threatening injuries during a Sunday afternoon, 07/03, single vehicle crash in the 400 block of Berkshire Road, Ridgewood. The driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the opposite lane of travel, and crashed head on into a utility pole. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood EMS responded to aid the victim. The wrecked Honda was towed from the scene. PSE&G’s Electric Division was notified about the damaged utility pole.

This was the 9th annual Ridgewood Police Department Chief Michael Feeney Jr Police Academy. The Academy ran from June 27th to July 1st. The mission of the junior police academy is for students to learn and experience what emergency services do while serving the community.

Emergency Service Volunteers in New Jersey Could Earn a $5000 Tax Credit

Trenton NJ, Senator Christopher Connors, Assemblyman Brian Rumpf, and Assemblywoman DiAnne Gove have reintroduced legislation S-1697 and A-757 that would permit volunteer firefighters and first aid or rescue squad members to claim an additional exemption of $5,000 to be taken as a deduction from their gross income if they meet certain qualifications.

Babysitter Steps Through the Floor of Ridgewood Home

Ridgewood NJ, an adult female babysitter and her young charge were injured when the sitter’s leg fell through a floorboard at a single family home in the 400 block of Prospect Street, Ridgewood early Friday afternoon, 02/18. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood EMS personnel and vehicles rushed to aid the two (2) victims. Arriving fire department personnel observed evidence of an active construction site with no permits visible. A Village of Ridgewood building inspector was summoned as a result of the Fire Department’s observation.

Bill that Increases Funding for Volunteer Rescue Squads Clears State Senate

Ridgewood Emergency Services Volunteers are clearing the snow so that the resident can safely be moved to the waiting ambulance. During the blizzard of 2022, there are 12 Emergency Service volunteers on standby at headquarters ready to respond to any Emergency in the Village.

Hit-and-run in Graydon South Parking Lot Leaves Two Ridgewood High School with Minor Injuries

Ridgewood NJ, Two (2) female Ridgewood High School students sustained minor injuries during a hit-and-run motor vehicle crash in the Graydon South parking lot on Thursday afternoon, 02/10. Both victims were evaluated at the scene by Ridgewood EMS, Ridgewood Fire Department EMTs and refused further medical attention. The victims were able to provide a detailed description of the fleeing vehicle to investigating Ridgewood police officers.

The Force of Collision in Ridgewood Sends Two Cars into a Near by Home

Ridgewood NJ, a Thursday afternoon, 02/03 collision in the 500 block of Northern Parkway, Ridgewood propelled a Toyota Scion across the front lawn of a nearby home, and into the driveway of second home, where it crashed into a parked car and the second home’s foundation. The three (3) occupants of all vehicles involved (2 adults and 1 child) refused ambulance transportation to a local hospital. The Toyota Scion and parked Toyota Camry were towed from the scene. The third vehicle, a Chevrolet Equinox, was driven from the scene on its own power. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood EMS personnel and vehicles responded to the incident. Fortunately no children  playing in the neighborhood at time of the incident .

Friday Morning Head-on Collision in Ridgewood Sends One Driver to Valley Hospital

Ridgewood NJ, a Friday morning, 01/21, head-on, two (2) vehicle collision at the intersection of West Ridgewood Avenue and North Monroe Street, Ridgewood resulted in one (1) driver requiring ambulance transportation to The Valley Hospital, and one (1) crash related summons being issued by Ridgewood Police. Both heavily damaged vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Fire  firefighters attended to a crash related fluid spill. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, Ridgewood EMS, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital responded to the incident.

Sunday Night Crash in Ridgewood’s Central Business District Sends One to The Valley Hospital

Ridgewood NJ, one (1) summons was issued in connection with a two (2) vehicle crash at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and North Walnut Street, Ridgewood on Sunday evening, 01/02. Ridgewood firefighters used hydraulic tools to extricate an adult female passenger of a minivan involved in the collision. The victim was transported to The Valley Hospital by Ridgewood EMS. A crash related fluid spill was also attended to by Ridgewood Fire Department. Both vehicles involved in the crash appear to have been totaled and were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Police Patrol Division handled the crash investigation.
