Ridgewood NJ, Northern Parkway between Linwood Avenue and Meadowbrook Avenue was temporarily closed to motor vehicle traffic on Monday morning, 05/13, due to a high pressure natural gas main leak caused by a construction related accident.
Ridgewood NJ, a temporary road closure on Friday morning as emergency responders sprang into action to address reports of heavy smoke inside businesses along East Ridgewood Avenue, between Cottage Place and North/South Walnut Streets.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood firefighters swiftly knocked down a late Wednesday night, 05/08, blaze that began in the back yard of a single family house on Allen Place, and quickly spread to the home’s exterior. All occupants of the home had safely evacuated prior to the arrival of firefighters. Ridgewood Police officers had extinguished most of the yard conflagration prior to the first Fire Department units arriving at the scene. Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel assisted with traffic control. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Ridgewood NJ, The force of a two (2) vehicle late Thursday afternoon, 04/25, collision at the intersection of South Monroe Street and Washington Place, Ridgewood propelled one (1) of the vehicles involved up onto the front lawn of the nearby George Washington Middle School.
Ridgewood NJ, The driver of a Nissan Rogue lost control of her vehicle while parking Monday morning, 04/15, and slammed into the front facade of a nail salon located on Godwin Avenue, Ridgewood. The driver is reportedly employed at the business she crashed into. No injuries were reported by the driver and the nail salon had not yet opened for business. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire, and a Village of Ridgewood construction code official responded to the mishap. The Nissan was towed away.
I don’t usually react to The Ridgewood Blog posts, but your the recent “reporting” on the incident at Habernickel, “Ridgewood Firefighters Honored for Life Saving Action”, completely missed the mark in describing the incident and should be corrected.

Ridgewood NJ, at Wednesday nights Village Council meeting , the Village council honored four Ridgewood Firefighter EMT’s . On January 23rd , Richard Brooks the Ridgewood Parks, Recreation & Conservation Board Chairman suffered a massive heart attack ,in which according to Mayor Paul Vagianos his heart stopped beating for 35 minutes .
Ridsgewood NJ, at approximately 2pm Tuesday April 9th an older model four-door sedan driven by an adult male mounted a sidewalk near the Walgrees on East Ridgewood Avenue .
Paramus NJ, a vehicle allegedly being driven erratically and speeding in Paramus crashed at the intersection of Route 17 northbound and Race Track Road, Ho-Ho-Kus early Monday afternoon, 04/08. The vehicle’s driver was handcuffed by Paramus Police officers and transported to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus by a Ridgewood Fire Department ambulance. Two (2) passengers in the vehicle were initially detained by Paramus Police, but later released after being evaluated by EMTs. Police at the scene would not comment on the nature of their investigation, nor why the driver was handcuffed. Ridgewood Police and Ho-Ho-Kus Police also responded to the incident along with additional ambulances from Paramus and Ho-Ho-Kus. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked BMW SUV from the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department personnel responded to mitigate a reported hazardous condition at 39 East Ridgewood Avenue on Thursday morning, 04/04. Aluminum flashing from the roof of a commercial structure had torn loose during overnight winds. One (1) piece of the flashing had fallen to the sidewalk below, and another was still suspended overhanging the sidewalk. Ridgewood firefighters used a ground ladder to access the roof and secure the suspended piece of flashing. The fallen piece was removed from the scene by a member of the Village’s Sanitation Division. No injuries were reported. Ridgewood Police officers provided pedestrian and traffic control while firefighters worked.

Ridgewood NJ, during Saturdays Nor-ester a tree and utility pole went down at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Gardner Road. Residents in the area were without power. PSE&G and the Ridgewood Police and Fire Department responded . No injuries reported.
