Indoor and Outdoor Gathering Capacity Limits Increased Helping Down Town Businesses

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today announced increased indoor and outdoor gathering capacity limits as COVID-19 cases in New Jersey continue to decline. Effective immediately, indoor gatherings are now limited to 25% capacity of the rooms in which they will take place, with a maximum of 100 persons. Outdoor gatherings are now limited to 250 persons, and outdoor religious services and political activities will continue to have no numerical limits.

Ridgewood central business district is once again alive with music, dining, and social distancing. They new concept of a Pedestrian Mall fell into place nicely for the first evening, welcoming in summer. Stay tuned each Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer months for more music and outdoor dining. Increases in dining and gathering capacities should help Village businesses start to recover form the COVID lock down .

“Reported Suspicious Occupied vehicle” Turns into Drug Bust in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ,Ridgewood Police report that Patrol units were dispatched to Garber Square on June 12, 2020 for a reported suspicious occupied vehicle. Responding officers, Ptl. James Bigos and Ptl. Jack Knudsen located the described occupied vehicle on private property. Upon further investigation, a 21 year-old male from Washington Township, N.J. and a 18 year-old female from Franklin Lakes, N.J. were arrested at the scene for Possession of Marijuana. Both arrestees were transported to Ridgewood Police headquarters, served with complaint summons and then released with a pending court date.

Pedestrian Struck by Motor Vehicle in Ridgewood Transported to Valley Hospital

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police report that on June 12, 2020, patrol units responded to the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and Cottage Place on a report of a pedestrian struck by motor vehicle in the roadway. Upon arrival, the pedestrian was conscious and alert and reported to have been walking in the crosswalk when she was struck by the vehicle. The Ridgewood Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to the Valley Hospital for treatment. Upon further investigation at the scene, the driver of the vehicle was issued a motor vehicle summons for Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian and provided a future court date.

Ridgewood Central Business District Disturbance Sends Man to New Bridge Medical Center

Bergen Regional Medical Center  has a New Name, New Bridge Medical Center

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police report that an East Ridgewood Avenue business contacted police on June 12, 2020 reporting a person was causing a disturbance within the business and harassing the store manager. Patrol units responded to the scene and located the described male person who had exited the business at the time of arrival. Patrol units located the described male party who was determined to be in need of medical attention. The male was transported to New Bridge Medical Center for medical treatment and the victim did not wish to sign a criminal complaint.

Ridgewood Police Break Up Knife Fight

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police report that on June 14, 2020, patrol units were dispatched to Parson Road on a report of a dispute in progress. Upon arrival, the victim reported while having a verbal argument with another Ridgewood resident, a knife was brandished in a threatening manner. Upon further investigation, a 66 year-old male from Ridgewood, N.J. was arrested at the scene and transported to Ridgewood Police headquarters. The arrestee was served with a complaint summons for Simple Assault and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes and released with a pending court date.

Its Just Not the Same Old Village Anymore

Ridgewood NJ,its just not the same old Village anymore,  the Ridgewood Police report that on June 10, 2020, a Fair Lawn, N.J. resident contacted the Ridgewood Police Department to report she was being harassed by two separate unknown persons while she was traveling through the Village of Ridgewood. The victim reported the actors shouted expletives at her and followed her in their vehicles in the area of Franklin Avenue. Patrol units checked the area but were unable to locate the described vehicles.

Village Attempts to Rewrite Election Results and School Budget Cuts with a Lawsuit

Ridgewood NJ,  The Village of Ridgewood is suing the Bergen County Board of Elections for rejecting 710 ballots from May’s vote-by-mail election, demanding the county review the tossed votes, which could have substantially changed the election results. Ridgewood residents cast around 5,400 ballots last month.  The Village claims that voters were not notified if their ballots were rejected, and village authorities were not informed about the disqualifications until June 5, three weeks after the election.

Ridgewood Fire Extinguishes Car Fire on South Broad Street

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Fire extinguished a passenger vehicle fire in the parking lot of an auto body shop located at 264 South Broad Street, Ridgewood on Friday afternoon, 06/19. No injuries were reported in the conflagration. The vehicle, a 4-door Buick sedan, was totaled. No tow truck was necessary due to the charred remains’ location.

Mobile COVID-19 Testing Comes to Graydon Pool Parking Lot in Ridgewood

Ridewood NJ, Community mobile testing resumes on Monday June 22nd in Ridgewood offering both COVID-19 saliva diagnostic and COVID-19 antibody tests. The COVID-19 saliva diagnostic test is available to all residents and the COVID-19 antibody test is available for those who have previously tested positive as well as first responders and healthcare workers. The test site will be open from 9-10am for first responders/healthcare workers and from 10 am – 2:15 pm for the general public.
