Ridgewood NJ, the near-total solar eclipse passed over North Jersey, with the moon making its final encroachment on the sun around 4:30 p.m. Although North Jersey wasn’t in the path of totality for the prime viewing experience, spectators still witnessed a remarkable celestial event, albeit partially obscured by the day’s cloud cover.

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT has been awarded a $1.6 million grant from the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) for the implementation of Artificial Intelligence-based systems designed to improve safety at light rail grade crossings. NJ TRANSIT will work with the Rutgers University Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT) on the research and development of these systems. The data collected will provide critical information to help reduce pedestrian and vehicle strikes and serve as a foundation for community-driven safety improvement solutions.
