Ridgewood NJ, on March 28th, the Ridgewood Police Department received reports of catalytic converter thefts from residents on Corsa Terrace and Lincoln Avenue. The crimes occurred overnight on 3/27 – 3/28. The Ridgewood Police Detective Bureau is investigating the incidents.
Ridgewood NJ, an Audi Q5 SUV crashed into the front of the Whole Foods supermarket located at 44 Godwin Avenue, Ridgewood early Tuesday afternoon, 03/28. The vehicle’s adult driver was transported to The Valley Hospital with unspecified injuries. Structural damage to the building was quite evident; the Village of Ridgewood’s Chief Construction Code Official, Anthony Merlino was present at the scene conducting an inspection. A flatbed tow truck removed the heavily damaged Audi from the store’s parking lot. Ridgewood Police Patrol Officer Miguel Torres Lopez investigated the incident. Ridgewood firefighters assisted in removing the vehicle from the structure and securing debris resultant from the crash.
Ridgewood NJ, PSE&G urges customers to be alert to utility scams – particularly scams demanding immediate bill payment. This week PSE&G joins Utilities United Against Scams (UUAS) to recognize National Consumer Protection Week, which aims to educate customers on how they can guard against becoming victims of impostor utility scams. Ridgewood NJ,. the adult driver of an older model Toyota Highlander was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital following a two (2) vehicle, Tuesday evening, 03/14, collision at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and North Walnut Street, Ridgewood. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Ridgewood firefighters attended to a crash related fluid spill and disconnected the batteries of both damaged SUVs. Ridgewood PD investigated the crash and Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel attended to the victim.
Ridgewood NJ, one (1) summons was issued in connection with a single vehicle Friday afternoon, 03/10, crash in the 100 block of Oak Street, Ridgewood that wiped out a fire hydrant, and damaged a utility pole. The vehicle’s 86 year old driver refused medical attention. Ridgewood firefighters mitigated a crash related utility spill before the vehicle was towed from the scene. Ridgewood Police investigated the crash and Ridgewood Emergency Services assisted with traffic control. PSE&G Electric Division and Ridgewood Water Company personnel were also on the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, no injuries were reported, but a 1997 Porsche Boxster sustained very heavy front end damage during an early Saturday afternoon, 02/25, crash on West Glen Avenue in Ridgewood. A flatbed tow truck winched the sporty rag top from a wooded area and removed it to a local body shop. Ridgewood Police Patrol Officer Michael Karcher investigated the crash with the assistance of Patrol Officer Peter Youngberg.

Ridgewood NJ, one (1) minor injury was reported following a two (2) vehicle, T-Bone collision at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and North Pleasant Avenue, Ridgewood at approximately 0745 hours on Tuesday, 02/07. The injured party refused ambulance transportation to a local hospital. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department units responded to the incident.
Ridgewood NJ, insiders at Village Hall are reporting that Ridgewood Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke has announced her plans to retire effective May 1, 2023.

Ridgewood NJ, Five (5) Ridgewood High School students escaped serious injury when their Nissan Pathfinder crashed head on into a utility pole as it rounded a curve on a narrow street near the high school. The late Friday afternoon, 01/27, crash triggered a massive response by local police, fire, and EMS units. One (1) passenger was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital for further evaluation. All others were released at the scene to parents. A flatbed tow truck removed the totaled Pathfinder from the scene. The pole was deemed unsafe by a PSE&G Electric Division troubleshooter and scheduled for immediate replacement. Ridgewood Police at the scene did not indicate whether any summonses would be issued in connection with the mishap.
Ridgewood NJ, two (2) students being transported from Midland Park to Paramus on a mini school bus escaped injury when their bus collided with BMW SUV in Ridgewood late Wednesday morning, 01/25. The crash occurred just after 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of East Glen Avenue and Northern Parkway. Neither driver involved in the mishap was injured. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Ridgewood Police issued one (1) summons in connection with the incident. Ridgewood Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to mitigate a crash related fluid spill.
Ridgewood NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of VICTOR T. BARTOLOMA (DOB: 9/25/1987; single; police officer) of Mahwah, NJ on a charge of hindering apprehension. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene. The injured party was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood Emergency Services all responded to the incident.

No injuries were reported The SUV involved in the crash was propelled completely through the attached garage of a nearby single family home, across the home’s driveway, through a fence, and into the driveway of a neighboring house. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Damage to the attached garage was extensive. Ridgewood Police issued one (1) summons in connection with the incident. Ridgewood Fire Department and a Village of Ridgewood building inspector also responded to the scene.
