Ridgewood NJ, The upcoming Village Council meeting on Wednesday, January 14, is shaping up to be one of the most significant dates on the local calendar. With five major zoning changes on the table, the community is understandably concerned about how these ordinances will reshape our neighborhood.

Ridgewood NJ, In a standing-room-only ceremony filled with tears, laughter, and overwhelming gratitude, the Village of Ridgewood, honored one of its most dedicated civic leaders: Tony Damiano, founder and executive director of the Ridgewood Guild.
During the Village Council meeting on November 5th, Damiano was presented with a Key to the Village—a testament to his “many years of service, creativity, and love for Ridgewood.” Residents, local business owners, and Council members shared heartfelt tributes to the man who helped define the Central Business District’s modern identity.
Ridgewood NJ, members of our staff were falling off their chairs shocked on Wednesday night when Ridgewood Mayor Paul Vagianos publicly disparaged the NJDEP during a Village Council meeting. Mr. Vagianos openly expressed his displeasure with how “slow” NJDEP conducts business. We know he said it once during the meeting, and we believe he may have said it a second time.
Ridgewood Nj, can’t remember when the next leaf pickup is for your neighborhood? Interested in seeing the agenda for the next Village Council meeting? Want to pay your property taxes?
Ridgewood Nj, as if the alarming, disconcerting, unwarranted, and targeted diatribe during Tuesday morning’s Fields Committee meeting wasn’t bad enough, Councilperson Siobhan Winograd publicly blamed the horrifying incident on the wrath’s recipient.
Ridgewod NJ, at the September 4th Village Council Meeting, Rich Calbi, director of Ridgewood Water, presented an update on the construction of the PFAS Treatment Facilities.
Ridgewood NJ, at the July 12, 2023 Village Council meeting, a presentation by a so-called “expert” talked about how he plans to get the historic designation of the Schedler Park property reversed. As if this whole charade wasn’t bad enough, the man droned on and ON for close to an hour and a half. The Mayor, who is the presiding officer, did nothing to make the guy bring his excruciating monologue to a conclusion. And the Mayor himself has publicly stated that he wants presentations, such as this, not to exceed 15 minutes.
Ridgewood NJ, saw this agenda item for this coming Monday’s Village Council meeting. Don’t know what it’s all about yet, but our staff suspects that it will be worthy of a follow up article.
VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF RIDGEWOOD MEETING NOTICE
Pursuant to the requirements of the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 231, P.L. 1975, notice is hereby given that the Village Council of the Village of Ridgewood will be holding both in-person and online Work Sessions and Public Meetings, via a Zoom webinar. The dates and times of the meetings are listed below.
Ridgewood NJ, “Don’t flatter yourself my friend. I’m here strictly for material, and I have a feeling this is a potential gold mine.” – A line spoken by Jerry Seinfeld in one of the greatest Seinfeld episodes ever aired, and also one that succinctly summarizes why no political critic in their right mind would ever want to miss a Village Council meeting now that Siobhan Winograd sits on the dais.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood’s Historic Schedler Property is the only physical barrier protecting an entire Ridgewood neighborhood from the harmful pollutants of Route 17, a major transportation corridor.
The tree and green-filled parcel (7+ acres) filters out light, noise, visual, airborne particulates, gaseous pollutants, and air toxics emitted by nearby diesel truck and motor vehicle activity. Equally important, it protects property values and helps deter crime.
Ridgewood NJ, Mayor Kundsen took to task some of her detractors on Wednesday night calling residents Jeanne Johnson comments “offensive, inappropriate and entirely inaccurate” , then went further accusing Ms. Johnson of bullying .
I am delighted that Village Council meetings are now being held live, and that those who wish to attend in-person can now do so.
However, as I expressed in a letter to members of the Village Council on this matter, I fail to understand why the option of making a public comment via telephone or Zoom was completely eliminated the moment the meetings went “in-person.”
