Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Friends of Music reminds all students that their 4th Annual Songwriting Contest is open until December 1st – all submissions are due then. Students of any age are invited to write a song for any instrument(s), voice, or combination. Any style and any length accepted. Entries are grouped by age and are judged by professional composers and musicians. The winners in each category may have their pieces premiered at the Friends of Music Concert in January 2023! Basil Pizzuto, an Assistant Principal at Ridgewood High School, died Suddenly on Wednesday

Ridgewood NJ Basil Pizzuto, an assistant principal at Ridgewood High School, died on Wednesday November 23rd of an aortic aneurysm just one day shy of his 50th birthday . Incident response protocols were activated immediately following reports of Pizzuto passing out. Pizzuto was an assistant principal at Ridgewood High School, a Saddle Brook Volunteer Fire Fighter and  the leader of St. Philip’s Music Ministry.

Driver Walks Home After Rollerover Crash in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, a Tuesday night, 11/22, single vehicle rollover crash in Ridgewood may have been caused by the vehicle’s driver falling asleep at the wheel. The 4-door Toyota Camry rolled on its side after striking a tree located in the 400 block of Berkshire Road, Ridgewood. After being evaluated on scene by Ridgewood Emergency Services EMTs, the driver refused medical aid and walked to his home, which was just a few hundred feet away from the crash site. A hydraulic lift tow truck righted the vehicle and removed it from the scene. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department units also responded to the incident. Police at the scene did not indicate whether any summonses would be issued in connection with the mishap.
