Hillcrest Road Home in Ridgewood Entered and Residents Wallet Stolen

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police report that on October 11 th , a Hillcrest Road resident reported that at someone entered their home,took a wallet and their vehicle’s key fob. The resident heard a noise, and observed the actor flee out the front door and get into a waiting vehicle. Nothing was taken from the vehicle, but later the resident reported one of their credit cards was attempted to be used in Newark later in the day. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau is investigating. The Ridgewood Police reminds our residents to not only lock their vehicles, but their homes as well.

Package Thieves Target Ridgewood Home

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood police report that on October 12 th , a Canterbury Place resident reported suspicious activity. The resident ordered a new cell phone and during the day, two individuals came and knocked on their door identifying themselves as working for UPS. The employees inquired about any expensive purchases, such a cellphone, which the resident informed them of such. The employees then noted that there was a vehicle earlier that attempted to intercept the residents package from them. The vehicles were described as white and black SUVs.

Paramus Police and Paramus Fire Respond to Multiple Vehicle Crash on Route 17 northbound near Ridgewood Avenue

Paramus NJ, no injuries were reported following a Tuesday morning, 10/18, multiple vehicle crash on Route 17 northbound near Ridgewood Avenue, Paramus, in which one (1) vehicle rolled over on its side, and another careened off of the highway into a stationary roll-off container and adjacent building. Two (2) vehicles were towed from the scene. Damage to the building appeared to have been cosmetic in nature only. Paramus Police and Paramus Fire Department responded to the incident.

National Weather Service has Issued a Frost Advisory for the Greater Ridgewood Area

Ridgewood NJ, the National Weather Service has issued a FROST ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM EDT WEDNESDAY. Temperatures as low as 34 will result in frost formation. Portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey and southeast New York could be affected.  The warning is in effect from midnight tonight to 9 AM EDT Wednesday. Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

The purchase echoes similar moves made by former President Trump and Elon Musk to own social media apps and push back against what they consider overbearing moderation policies that silence conservatives.

Amazon’s Attrition Rate Costs the Company $8 billion Annually

Ridgewood NJ, Amazon’s turnover rate is well above industry averages. The attrition rate is costing an estimated $8 billion annually for Amazon and its shareholders. Only one out of three new hires in 2021 stayed with the company for 90 or more days. The company may deplete the available labor supply in some regions within a few years. Amazon’s learning programs appear disorganized and are likely costing the company hundreds of millions in wasted hours.

New State Record Hybrid Striped Bass Caught in Monskville Reservoir

Monskville Reservoir NJ, John Vayda caught the new state record Hybrid Striped Bass in Monskville Reservoir on October 9, 2022. The fish weighed 16 pounds, 10 ounces, and measured 31 inches in length with a girth of 23 inches. It replaces Bill Schmidt’s 1999 record hybrid that weighed 16 pounds, 4 ounces.

Credit Suisse Reaches $495 Million Settlement to Resolve Allegations of Fraud and Deceit in Sale of Toxic Mortgage-Backed Securities that Fueled 2008 Financial Crisis

Trenton  NJ, the Office of the Attorney General announced today that the New Jersey Bureau of Securities has reached a $495 million agreement in principle with Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC, Credit Suisse First Boston Mortgage Securities Corp., and DLJ Mortgage Capital, Inc. (collectively “Credit Suisse”) that would resolve a lawsuit arising from the offer and sale of toxic residential mortgage-backed securities (“RMBS”) from 2006 to 2007 in the run-up to the 2008 financial crisis. Once final, the deal will be one of New Jersey’s largest civil monetary recoveries in the state’s history, and will include, among other things, approximately $300 million in restitution for investors nationwide.

Upper Saddle River NJ, just a little after 4:30 this afternoon, Upper Saddle River Fire Department was requested to a home on Hillside Avenue for a reported structure fire. First arriving Fire Department and Upper Saddle River Police units found heavy fire in a residential structure. The fire was brought under control about 2.5 hours after dispatch.
