Newark NJ, New Jersey Transit Police Lieutenant Miano was supervising a uniformed detail of detectives at stations in the Oranges. At Orange Station, Miano checked in on a detective and noticed this small kitten being fed by passing commuters. The stray kitten climbed Miano’s leg and was lifted into his arms. As Miano departed to complete his duties, he consulted with his family. They decided if it was still there when he returned, he would take the kitten home.⁣

Woodcliff Lake NJ, Whole Foods Market will open its new 47,790-square-foot store, located at 500 Chestnut Ridge Road in Woodcliff Lake, N.J. on Wednesday, July 27. The stores design evokes a casual, modern feel with a traditional material palette in hues of black, white and tan with pops of color. The new locations product assortment features more than 1,000 local items from the Tri-State area and local produce from New Jersey, hand-picked by Chris Manca, Local Forager for Whole Foods Markets Northeast region.

Lodi NJ,  Continuing a 70-year tradition, the Bergen County American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary are again hosting the annual George F. Axt Memorial Fund dinner to benefit scholarships awarded to nursing school applicants. The event will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Joseph M. Lane American Legion Post 136 in Lodi. Tickets are $15 each and include dinner, coffee and dessert. Dance music will be provided by a DJ. A tricky tray will also be featured.

Ridgewood NJ, ex-councilmen Jeffrey Voigt file a complain in March of 2021 called a Denial of Access Complaint with the Government Records Council (“GRC”). The Complainant disputed the Custodian’s extension of time to respond to the subject OPRA requests, noting that she failed to provide a reason for it upon his request on February 26, 2021. The Complainant argued that it was not until he threatened to
file a complaint with the GRC that the Custodian replied stating that responsive records would be provided.

Ridgewood NJ, nominating packets are available for Ridgewood residents who are registered voters and wish to run for and serve on the Ridgewood Village Council.  They may be picked up at the Village Clerk’s Office in Village Hall, 131 North Maple Avenue, during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except legal holidays.  The deadline for filing completed nominating petitions is September 6, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.

River Edge NJ, The tradition continued on, July 9, at the Bergen County Historical Society annual Vintage Baseball Game. Fans gathered at HNBL’s Meadow at 11 a.m. to watch a double header between the Flemington Neshanocks and our very own Enterprise Club of New Bridge with nineteenth century rules, uniforms, and equipment from 11 am to 2 pm at Historic New Bridge Landing, 1201 Main St, River Edge.

Oradell Fighters Quickly Handle Nail Salon Blaze

Oradell NJ, Thursday evening, the Oradell  fire department responded to the 300 block of Kinderkamack Road for a reported fire at Family Nails . Arriving companies encountered a working fire with a moderate smoke condition inside of a nail salon. The fire was quickly extinguished with no extension to adjoining stores. The cause has not yet been officially determined.

Paramus NJ, the Paramus Police Department is investigating a property damage and attempted theft incident that occurred at the Paramus VFW building overnight. Unknown person(s) cut down the flag pole which had the American and POW flags flying on it. VFW members Sonny Schuler and Skip Cherven secured the flags in proper manner after the damage was found. Teen Driver Killed in Rutherford Crash

Rutherford NJ, a 17 years old Bergen County teen driver died after striking a telephone pole and caught fire on Friday. According to Rutherford Police Chief John Russo who told Patch the vehicle, a two-door BMW Sedan, was traveling westbound on Marginal Road between Lincoln Avenue and Wheaton Place at 3 p.m.
