Ridgewood NJ, the National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm warning. Tropical Storm Elsa  for Southeast New York, Northeast New Jersey, and Southern Connecticut .

TROPICAL STORM ELSA EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE AREA LATE TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY. The Tropical Storm Watch has been upgraded to a Tropical Storm Warning for Northeast Suffolk, Northern New London, Northwest Suffolk, Southeast Suffolk, Southern Middlesex, Southern Nassau, Southern New Haven, Southern New London, and Southwest Suffolk .

Vandals Steal 4-wheel drive utility vehicle owned by the Village of Ridgewood and take it for a Joy Ride !

Ridgewood NJ, Vandals stole a small 4-wheel drive utility vehicle owned by the Village of Ridgewood, and took the the golf cart sized unit for a short joy ride in a municipal parking lot before overturning it on its side late Wednesday evening, 07/07. Witnesses to the incident reported seeing a small group of male juveniles, none of whom appeared to have been injured, run from the scene after the vehicle crashed. A search of the area by several Ridgewood Police patrol units failed to turn up the perpetrators. Ridgewood firefighters were dispatched to stabilize the vehicle, drain its large water tank, and right it in preparation for removal by a flatbed tow truck. Video footage from a nearby security camera was turned over to Ridgewood Police detectives for investigatory purposes. And yes the keys were left in the vehicle !

Ridgewood Emergency Services Receives 26 Requests for Assistance between 630 and 930 pm During Tuesday Evenings Thunder Storm

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Emergency Services reported that Tuesday evenings  quick moving storm overran Ridgewood and the surrounding area last evening. Ridgewood Emergency Services responded to 26 requests for assistance between 630 and 930 pm last evening. 13 members responded in 5 vehicles to emergency situations involving wires down, trees down, lights out and road closures. Ridgewood Emergency Services worked alongside Ridgewood Police Officers and Ridgewood Firefighters, providing the assistance to keep everyone safe.

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Tax Foundation , in calendar year 2019 (the most recent data available), New Jersey had the highest effective rate on owner-occupied property at 2.13 percent, followed by Illinois (1.97 percent) and New Hampshire (1.89 percent). Hawaii was at the other end of the spectrum with the lowest effective rate of 0.31 percent, followed closely by Alabama (0.37 percent) and Louisiana and Wyoming (both at 0.51 percent).
