Village of Ridgewood Updates Parking Regulations

Ridgewood NJ, the Village of Ridgewood announces changes to Village parking regulations effective May 1st . In an email the Village Manager Heather A. Mailander explained the changes:

RESIDENTIAL PARKING AND OVERNIGHT RESIDENTIAL PARKING

Effective May 1, 2021, all residential parking regulations will be enforced. This also includes the prohibition of overnight parking on the street, throughout the Village, from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.

CDC Recommends all Pregnant Women Receive the COVID Vaccine

Ridgewood NJ, according to Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, following the publication of preliminary findings detailing the effectiveness of SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines in pregnant women in the April 21 New England Journal of Medicine, US CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said during a briefing on April 23 that the agency recommends all pregnant women receive a vaccine. Dr. Walensky noted that no safety concerns arose for pregnant women vaccinated during their third trimester nor for their infants, although the study did not include the J&J-Janssen vaccine. Experts have taken special interest in the effect of vaccinations in pregnant persons, and a study published on April 22 in JAMA Pediatrics shows they are at a higher risk for complications due to COVID-19. The research, which described the experiences of 2,130 pregnant persons in 18 countries, concluded that the risks of COVID-19-related morbidity and mortality among pregnant people and their infants are greater than previously thought, underscoring the importance of vaccination for pregnant women.

Washington DC, The population of the United States grew by just 7.4 percent in the last decade, its second-slowest rate in any decade since the first Census was taken back in 1790. The only other decade with slower growth? The 1930s.

Six of the seven states that will lose a seat in Congress — Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia — are in the Rust Belt. Five of those states, leaving West Virginia aside, have been losing seats for a long time.

Paramus NJ, A three (3) vehicle Tuesday afternoon, 04/27, collision in front of 120 Route 17 North Paramus, wiped out a fire hydrant and a section of guardrail when a minivan involved in the crash careened off of the traveled roadway. One (1) person was extricated from the heavily damaged vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Ridgewood Board of Education Imposes Specific Milestones on Infant Toddler Development Center (ITDC)

Ridgewood NJ, based upon the information and projections submitted by ITDC, confirmation of ITDC’s numbers by the auditing firm, Lerch, Vinci, & Higgins, and the legality confirmation by the Ridgewood Board attorney, Mr. Giacobbe, Dr. Gorman recommended that the Board give ITDC an opportunity to run a successful program in the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. Furthermore, if ITDC’s enrollment does not meet the projected numbers by October 31, they will be asked to make further cuts during the next school year to attempt to reach a profit, and the program will be closed at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Additionally, if they do meet their projected numbers and break even or show a surplus, the recommendation is to allow ITDC to operate in the 2022-2023 school year on probationary status. Following a discussion by the Board, they voted to accept the recommendation.

Ridgewood NJ, on Monday night Ridgewood School Board meeting , Superintendent Dr. Gorman and School Business Administrator Mr. Bisig presented the 2021-2022 County Approved Budget, beginning with highlights about the district and a sampling of achievements and honors. Ms. Poelstra the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum shared how the budget supports the academic program and reviewed curriculum updates to align with revised New Jersey Student Learning Standards for science, visual and performing arts, world languages, and career readiness, life literacies, and key skills. She reviewed areas of focus for professional development which support the goals and objectives of the RPS Strategic Plan and provided examples of innovative academic programming in the district, such as AP Capstone, Ridgewood Academy for Health Professions (RAHP), Career Pathways in Medicine Program (CPM), and a variety of STEAM and other interdisciplinary offerings.

Pfizer testing pill designed to stop Covid-19

Ridgewood NJ, Pfizer has developed a pill designed to stop Covid-19. It is now starting human trials on the drug, which showed no significant risks or safety concerns during its animal studies. The human trials will be split into three phases and run for 145 days. Another 28 days will be added to the trial period for screening and dosing. The drug attacks the spine of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and stops it from replicating in the nose, throat, and lungs. It is classed as a protease inhibitor.
