Ridgewood NJ, the average rate for the most common type of mortgage in the US has risen to almost 7.1%, according to data from a survey of lenders made by mortgage financing giant Freddie Mac. The figure—for 30-year fixed-rate loans—is the highest since December 2001 and is up two percentage points over the past year (and more than 4.4 points from the all-time low seen in January 2021).

Rutgers Study: Offshore Wind Farms Expected to Reduce Clam Fishery Revenue

Atlantic City NJ, according to two Rutgers University studies offshore wind farms are expected to reduce clam fishery revenue and New Jersey, losses could be as high as 25 percent for fishing vessels based in Atlantic City. Projected annual revenue losses could approach 15 percent industry-wide .

Ridgewood Nj, in 1976 McGraw-Hill published Erma Bombeck’s The Grass Is Always Greener over the Septic Tank, which became a best-seller ,but according to Ridgewood Water the grass is already starting to fill in the patchwork of 16 Lead Service Lines replaced on Beechwood Road in Ridgewood over the last week. Ridgewood Water thanks  residents for their patience with this temporary inconvenience as our distribution crews install lead free materials in our distribution system. Thank you to the paving contractor, Tilcon, for working with us to ensure we leave this part of the road freshly paved and smooth for years to come.

Major Milling and Paving Work on Pascack Road in Twp. of Washington to Begin August 28th – September 20th

Twp. of Washington NJ, the County of Bergen has selected to pave Pascack Road from the Hillsdale boarder at Ell Road until the Paramus boarder at Linwood Avenue.  The project is expected to begin on or about Monday August 28th and continue until about Wednesday September 20th.  All work on the project will be conducted between the hours of 7:00am until 5:00pm.

The band is planning to return to the Kasschau Memorial Shell to give a free concert in October after heavy rains forced the cancelation of the show on August 10th . Parking in the Village of Ridgewood Brings Out the Best in People

Ridgewood NJ, a motorist who returned to his vehicle and found a parking summons affixed to it tracked down the responsible Ridgewood Parking Enforcement Agent (PEO) on Friday afternoon, 08/18, and dumped a full glass of soda through the open driver’s side window of the agent’s official vehicle. The incident occurred on Chestnut Street in Ridgewood, near East Ridgewood Avenue. A Ridgewood Police Patrol Officer and Patrol Supervisor responded quickly to assist the Ridgewood Parking Enforcement Agent , but the perpetrator had fled prior to their arrival. A copy of the summons issued will be used to identify & charge the suspect. The Ridgewood Parking Enforcement Agent was uninjured. Clearly someone acted before thinking about the consequences.

Truck Picking Up Container Entangled in Power Lines Infront of Franklin School in Saddle Brook

Saddle Brook NJ, a roll-off truck became entangled in a bundle of communications & power lines on Thursday afternoon, 08/17, while picking up a full container in front of the Franklin School on Caldwell Avenue in Saddle Brook. Damage was limited to the house services supplying a single family home opposite the school. Saddle Brook Fire Department and Rochelle Park Fire Department units stood by along with a PSE&G Electric Division technician as the truck driver gingerly maneuvered the truck’s hydraulic apparatus off of the lines. No injuries were reported in the mishap. Saddle Brook Police also responded.
