Knepper announced that criminal charges have been filed against Juan Martinez Gonzalez of Hawthorne, New Jersey for his involvement in a hit-and-run crash that occurred in the evening hours on June 28, 2023, in the area of Wagaraw Road and Passaic Street in Hawthorne, New Jersey. Juan Martinez Gonzalez is charged with Second-Degree Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death of Another; Third-Degree Causing Death or Injury While Unlicensed; Third-Degree Endangering an Injured Victim; and Fourth-Degree Driving While Suspended.

Paramus NJ, Paramus Police, Paramus EMS, Paramus Rescue, Paramus OEM, and Paramus Fire Companies 1 & 3 assisted the staff of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center with a patient MedEvac on Tuesday afternoon, 07/11. A Temple MedFlight helicopter from Temple University Hospital landed at 1 Veterans Way in Paramus to transport a cardiac critical care patient from Paramus to Philadelphia, PA for continued treatment and care.

NJ Attorney General Investigates Traffic Stop ,”Racial Profiling” of New Jersey State Police

Trenton NJ, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin today announced the initiation of a traffic stop pilot program that will involve all members of the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) who regularly conduct motor vehicle enforcement actions in an effort to reduce motor vehicle fatalities, increase officer and roadway safety, and reduce concerning racial and ethnic disparities identified in motor vehicle enforcement actions taken by the New Jersey State Police.  The Office of the Attorney General has engaged a team of independent researchers to work with leadership from across several Divisions within the Attorney General’s Department of Law and Public Safety (LPS) to develop interventions that will be piloted throughout the NJSP and across the state in coming months.

PSE&G Paving Schedule in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, PSE&G has completed the gas system upgrades in your neighborhood to ensure continued safe, reliable gas service.  Now that the ground has settled, we will restore roads with permanent paving.

The milling and paving activities will occur during daytime hours between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Work is scheduled to start Monday July 17th 2023, and End August 10th weather permitting. Please abide by all emergency “No Parking” signs, as they will be posted 24 hours before work is scheduled to begin on each street.

Provident Bank branch on River Road, Fair Lawn was held up on Tuesday Morning

Fair Lawn NJ, the Provident Bank branch at 12-79 River Road, Fair Lawn was held up by a lone individual at approximately 10:25 AM on Tuesday, 07/11. No weapon was shown in the bank and no one was otherwise injured. The perpetrator fled from the bank on foot with an unspecified amount of cash. Fair Lawn Police officers who canvassed the surrounding neighborhood later found a homeowner’s security camera had captured the individual entering a motor vehicle and driving away from the neighborhood. A license plate may have been visible in the video; an investigation is underway. Responders included Fair Lawn Police, Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9 units, and Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification.

Ridgewood NJ, Correspondence recently obtained via an Open Public Records Act request reveals that Ridgewood Mayor Paul Vagianos may have used a private e-mail address to initiate communication with Historic Preservation Specialist Peter Primavera in November of 2022. Mr. Vagianos was a Ridgewood Councilman at that time; he was appointed mayor in January of 2023. The correspondence, Mr. Primavera’s reply to the then Councilman’s request for information indicates an e-mail address provided by Mr. Vagianos was: [email protected].
