Hawthorne NJ, at 1:43pm the Hawthorne Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on Sunrise Dr on a reported house fire. Upon the arrival of the Hawthorne Fire Department and Fire Chief Speranza the members were advised this was a confirmed working fire. As the Chief Speranza evaluated the conditions of home during his 360 he was advised of an occupant being trapped in the home and transmitted a 2nd alarm.

The 65th Anniversary Season of The Kasschau Memorial Shell – Veterans Field in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, The 65th Anniversary Season of The Kasschau Memorial Shell – Veterans Field – behind the Ridgewood Public Library, will begin on June 1st at 8:00 p.m. The performances will continue on Tuesday and Thursday evenings through the beginning of August. The performance are free and open to the public. Please bring a chair or a blanket. To help fund the newest season of programming, the shell is running a community donation campaign with the goal of raising $25,000. Funds raised will be used to produce upcoming events, as well as the scholarship fund. Donations may be made on the Shell’s website: www.KasschauMemorialShell.com. All contributing donors will be recognized on the Kasschau Memorial Shell website, while donors that contribute $50 or more will be recognized on a donor wall that will be present at all concerts throughout the 2023 season.

Newark NJ, Newark Liberty International Airport recently hosted 170 puppies and more than 200 volunteers in Terminal C as part of a special program to train the next generation of puppies for their future roles as guide dogs to assist visually impaired travelers in navigating through airports. The Port Authority, along with representatives from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration and United Airlines, teamed with volunteers from The Seeing Eye®, a New Jersey-based national non-profit organization that helps blind and visually impaired people achieve enhanced independence and mobility through the use of guide dogs, for two trainings on May 6 and 13.

Fort Lee NJ, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey expects nearly 5.5 million travelers across its facilities this Memorial Day weekend. To accommodate motorists traveling between New York and New Jersey, all ongoing repairs and construction projects at its crossings will be suspended from 5 a.m. Friday, May 26, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 30. A separate travel advisory for any lane closures or service changes for the remainder of that week will be issued next week.
