New Jersey Department of Labor Shuts Down 27 Boston Markets Including 11 in Bergen and Passaic Counties

Trenton NJ, On August 14, 2023, the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) issued 27 stop-work orders to Boston Market locations across the state after finding multiple violations of workers’ rights, including more than $600,000 in back wages owed to 314 workers.

NICHE: 2023 Best Places to Live in New Jersey: Ho-Ho-Kus and Ridgewood Crack the Top 5

Ridgewood NJ, the website NICHE came out with its 2023 Best Places to Live in New Jersey  and Ridgewood came in at number 4, just behind neighbor Ho-Ho-Kus at Number 3. Other Bergen county towns that made the list include River Edge at #5 , Closter #6 , Harrington Park #8, Old Tappan #13 , Haworth #14, Allendale #16, and neighbor Glen Rock #23 rounding out the top 25.

Alpine NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of TYSEAN WARE (DOB: 1/08/2003; single; unemployed), currently incarcerated at Morris County Jail; DAVID CURETON (DOB: 2/02/2003; single; unemployed), currently incarcerated at Monmouth County Jail; OLAJAWAN DAVIS-FLEMING (DOB: 2/17/1996; single; unemployed) of 783 South 12th Street, Newark, NJ; KHYREE LAWRENCE (DOB: 12/02/2003; single; unemployed) of 26 Eaton Place, East Orange, NJ; SHAQUAN WHITE (DOB: 10/20/2002; single; unemployed) of 74 South 13th Street, Newark, NJ; and ALI HALL (DOB: 10/28/2001; single; unemployed) currently incarcerated at Essex County Jail, on charges of burglary, theft, attempted burglary, weapons offenses, receiving stolen property, terroristic threats, and conspiracy. The arrests are the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

Saddle River NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of STEVEN RUGELES (DOB: 01/06/1993; married; unemployed) of 1204 Fairmount Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ; SANTIAGO CAMARGO-ROJAS (DOB: 05/03/1999; single; unemployed) of 738 Seaport Drive, Elizabeth, NJ; and NICHOLAS BUITRAGO-GRILLO (DOB: 2/01/2000; single; unemployed) of 738 Seaport Drive, Elizabeth, NJ on charges of conspiracy to commit burglary, money laundering, receiving stolen property, possession of false government documents and possession of burglar tools. Nova Scotia Wildfires Creating Unhealthy Air Quality in New Jersey

Ridgewood NJ, this week, areas throughout the Northeast, including parts of New Jersey, are being impacted by poor air quality.  Large uncontrolled wildfires in Nova Scotia have produced a significant smoke plume that is moving toward our area, likely to cause elevated unhealthy fine particles readings registering on the Air Quality Index. The air quality is predicted to be unhealthy for sensitive groups,  including children, older adults, and people with lung diseases like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
