Mahwah NJ, after an internal audit found discrepancies in the financial records of a Home School Organization, which raises funds for school and student activities, Kerry Stumbo, 50, of Mahwah, faces criminal charges linked to misappropriated funds from the Lenape Meadows Elementary School Home School Organization, according to a criminal complaint filed in Bergen County Superior Court.

Mahwah NJ, Ramapo College of New Jersey, the State’s public liberal arts college, today launched the Ramapo College Investigative Genetic Genealogy Center (IGG Center), the first Center of its kind to offer case work, research, and hands-on education in investigative genetic genealogy. The vision of the innovative new Center is to secure justice through the ethical and proficient use of investigative genetic genealogy to support the resolution of cases involving wrongful convictions, unidentified human remains, and violent crime. The first class of students in the Center’s IGG Certificate Program will enroll in the Spring of 2023.

Mahwah NJ, a tri-axle dump truck towing a trailer loaded with three (3) heavy pieces of paving equipment, crashed on Route 287 northbound in Mahwah late Wednesday afternoon, 11/30. The truck, trailer, and one (1) piece of equipment careened off of the roadway and down a steep embankment. The remaining two (2) pieces of paving equipment dislodged from the trailer and landed in the traveled portion of Route 287 northbound, just south of Darlington Avenue in Ramsey. One (1) individual was seriously injured in the crash; paramedics were dispatched to assist Mahwah EMS personnel with the victim’s care. Route 287 northbound was closed in Franklin Lakes to facilitate roadway clean up and removal of all damaged equipment/vehicles.

Township Administrator Benjamin Kezmarsky said Tuesday , “It will be another eight weeks before construction starts due to material availability,” Kezmarsky said. “And this is subject to change based on weather and material lead time.”

Mahwah NJ, the body of a missing 41-year-old man was discovered Saturday. Hector Zamorano, of Mahwah, was found deep inside the 4,000-acre reservation in Bergen County by another hiker on Saturday morning, according to Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton.

Mahwah NJ, Ramapo College of New Jersey will hold the formal inauguration ceremony for its fifth college president, Dr. Cindy R. Jebb, on Friday, October 14th, 2022. Dr. Jebb joined the state college in 2021, after retiring from the U.S. Army and her post as the first woman Dean of the Academic Board at the United States Military Academy at West Point. The inauguration ceremony begins in the Arena of the Bill Bradley Sports and Recreation Center at 2 p.m., followed immediately by a reception. Doors to the Arena open at 1 p.m.

Mahwah NJ, a collision involving a rolled over dump truck reeked havoc for drivers on Route 287 northbound in Mahwah on Wednesday morning, 10/05. Mahwah firefighters were dispatched to the incident based on reports that the truck’s driver was entrapped in the vehicle. Basic and advanced EMS support was also dispatched to the scene. Motor vehicle traffic northbound near milepost 64.0 was restricted to one (1) lane while NJ State Police investigated the crash. No information was readily available regarding the extent of injuries sustained by the driver.

Mahwah NJ, a permit has been issued by the state’s Department of Environmental Protection that will allow the installation of a permanent cell tower on municipal property off Rozanski Lane. A tower for the dead zone has been debated off and on since 2005. The current proposal to lease tower space there was approved by the Council in 2017 during the administration of Mayor William Laforet.
