Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood blog has reported this scam in several communities, including Ridgewood and Upper Saddle River. Fraudsters in New Jersey have devised a new and alarming tactic to deceive residents, prompting concern from law enforcement. Scammers are now impersonating real police officers when calling unsuspecting victims, threatening them with jail time for allegedly missing jury duty unless they make immediate payments.

Body of Missing Mahwah Man Found

Mahwah NJ, the body of a missing 41-year-old man was discovered Saturday. Hector Zamorano, of Mahwah, was found deep inside the 4,000-acre reservation in Bergen County by another hiker on Saturday morning, according to Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton.

Wood Ridge NJ, At 9:58 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020, a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle on Route 17 South in front of 255 Route 17 in Wood-Ridge, NJ. The victim, a 20-year-old man from Roxbury, MA, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Unions Consolidate at Bergen County Sheriff’s Department

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton, announced today that an agreement has been reached to merge the Bureau of Police Services (formerly the County Police) into the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office. The agreement, which was signed on Friday, August 14^th, by Sheriff Cureton and the unions representing Bureau of Police Services officers (PBA49) and Sheriff and Correction officers (PBA134), completes the police realignment efforts that began in 2015.

Under the agreement, members of the Bureau of Police Services will become Sheriff Officers and join the ranks of PBA 134, creating one unified police force on the county level. The merger will allow for greater flexibility, improve public safety, and save taxpayers money. All the public safety responsibilities currently assumed by the Bureau of Police Services will continue to be met by the Sheriff Office.

The tragic shooting left six dead including Jersey City Police Detective Joseph Seals.

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton announced the arrests of eight individuals as a result of a recent Fugitive Task Force operation. The July operation featured participation from 18 different agencies and resulted in multiple leads that may bring the task force closer to satisfying outstanding criminal arrest warrants, in addition to the eight arrests.
