Hopatcong NJ,  a Sussex County, New Jersey, woman, was arrested at her home today in connection with concealing sending money to a Syrian foreign terrorist organization, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Maria Bell, a/k/a “Maria Sue Bell,” 53, of Hopatcong, New Jersey, is charged by complaint with one count of knowingly concealing the provision of material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization. She is scheduled to appear by videoconference this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy L. Waldor.

UPDATE : Paterson Experiences Surge in Gun Crime

Paterson NJ, in a new report, NorthJersey.com claims that more people have been shot in Paterson this year than at any other time in the past decade, according to city statistics. The Ridgewood blog originally reported that Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh is blaming Governor Murphy’s early prisoner release program for the surge in gun crime.

Jessica Diaz , the Public Information Officer for the City of Paterson told the Ridgewood blog in an email that  Mayor Sayegh stated this ( Governor Murphy’s early prisoner release program)  may only be a possible contributing factor to the incidents and he is not blaming the Governor’s program for the uptick in gun crime.

Judge Thomas Brogan, sitting in state Superior Court in Paterson, ruled that Wayne officials have avoided their responsibility through five-plus years of “bad faith” and “concerted procrastination.”  The court decision  means Wayne  has lost protection from builder’s remedy lawsuits this week after a judge ruled that officials have dragged their feet for too long in their obligation to plan for low-income housing.
