Paramus NJ, Paramus Mayor Chris DiPiazza gets a sneak peek at Valley Hospital . Valley Hospital’s move to Paramus is expected to take place on Sunday, April 14, 2024! The new acute-care hospital will feature 370 private patient rooms and will be the centerpiece of a comprehensive 40-acre healthcare campus that also includes Valley’s medical office building at 140 East Ridgewood Avenue, and the Robert & Audrey Luckow Pavilion, which houses Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care, The George R. Jaqua Same Day Services Center, a full-service retail pharmacy.

Smokey Fire Erupts on Macy’s in Paramus Park Rooftop Early Sunday Afternoon

Paramus NJ, Macy’s in Paramus Park was the scene of a smokey, three (3) alarm, early Sunday afternoon, 10/01, fire involving several roof top mounted electrical transformers. Paramus firefighters were assisted by multiple fire, rescue, and EMS providers at the scene, and for “cover” purposes in empty Paramus fire houses. The fire appeared to come from three electrical transformers on the roof of Macy’s that caught fire. There was no report of damage to the store itself.

No injuries were reported in the blaze and damage appeared to have been contained to the department store’s roof area.

Flood Waters Force Residences To Be Evacuated Near Dunkerhook Road in Paramus

Paramus NJ, rising flood waters prompted the late Friday afternoon, 09/29, closure of Dunkerhook Road at Paramus Road in Paramus, which is the primary means of egress for residents of several streets located just west of the closure point. After emergency personnel were unsuccessful at their Friday afternoon attempts to alleviate the flooding, Paramus OEM recommended the evacuation of all residences in the area as a safety precaution.

Bergen County Man Wins Nation’s Top Tutor

Paramus NJ, Bergen Community College peer writing tutor and academic coach Ricardo Santana has earned the College Reading and Learning Association’s (CRLA) 2023 Rick Sheets Outstanding Tutor Award, making him the top tutor from more than 1,200 accredited tutoring programs across the country. Santana works in the College’s Cerullo Learning Assistance Center, which has twice earned national honors as the best in the country as well. He represents the first Bergen student to earn the award. Santana will attend the CRLA Annual Conference this November in Baltimore, Maryland as a guest of honor and accept his award.

Paramus NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of EDISON PRO (DOB: 12/15/1969; married; handyman) ,Paramus, NJ on charges of sexual assault by contact, endangering the welfare of a child, and aggravated criminal sexual contact.  The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Paramus Police Department under the direction of Chief Robert Guidetti.

The Iconic Fireplace Restaurant in Paramus is No More

Paramus NJ, well it’s finally gone , the Route 17 icon the Fireplace restaurant was demolished on Tuesday. The Fireplace closed in 2021 after 65 years in business, the property is slated to become home to a Chick-fil-A. Some viewed the closing as a symptom of the struggle of small businesses ,others said that times have just changed.

Academy of the Holy Angels Junior Sings at Sydney Opera House & Carnegie Hall

Paramus NJ, Vocalist Isabella Wisniewski used to dream of visiting Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House. This year, she was invited to perform at both world-famous venues. In the space of a few months, Wisniewski sang with the 2023 Honors Performance Series in New York City, and followed up by bringing her vocal talents to the HPS in Australia.

Paramus NJ, Paramus EMS transported one (1) victim to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus following a two (2) vehicle, Saturday afternoon collision at the intersection of Paramus Road and West Midland Avenue. The victim reportedly sustained non life threatening arm and facial injuries. Both vehicles, a Honda CRV and a Tesla, were towed from the scene. Paramus Police and the Paramus Police Reserves also responded.

DOJ finds Poor Care at New Jersey State-run Veterans Homes During COVID Pandemic

Paramus NJ,  State Senator Michael Testa, Jr. slammed Governor Phil Murphy and former DOH Commissioner Judy Persichilli after a bombshell report was released Thursday by the Department of Justice and U.S. Attorney’s office for New Jersey. The report indicates that there were inadequate pandemic infection control measures and medical care at two New Jersey state-run veterans homes during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was determined that these actions, or lack thereof, violated the U.S. Constitution.

Pedestrian Struck by SUV in the parking lot of the Paramus ShopRite Rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center

Paramus NJ, a pedestrian was gravely injured when she was struck by a black colored SUV in the parking lot of ShopRite, 224 East Route 4 in Paramus shortly after 1 PM on Labor Day, Monday, 09/04. The victim was rushed by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s (HUMC) main campus. A paramedic team from HUMC was onboard the ambulance, and a Paramus Police Emergency Services Unit vehicle also assisted in the transport. Detectives from Paramus Police immediately began an investigation into the occurrence.
