Upper Saddle River NJ, Rachel Simon, a 10-year-old from Upper Saddle River, has won a prestigious national writing award from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs for her heartwarming composition, “Grandma’s Matzoh Ball Soup.” The award, which was presented at a ceremony hosted by the Women’s Club of Upper Saddle River, came just in time for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

Upper Saddle River Man Charged in Armed Robbery in Allendale

Upper Saddle River NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of FRANCISCO B. VERDUGO, 22, of Upper Saddle River, NJ, who was identified as an additional suspect involved in an armed robbery investigation, which was previously announced on May 21, 2024. This additional arrest is the result of the continuing investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Allendale Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Dillon.

Former Assistant Treasurer Alleges Age Discrimination in Upper Saddle River Firing

Upper Saddle River NJ, Jeffrey Smyrychynski, a 54-year-old Oakland resident, has filed a lawsuit in Bergen County Superior Court against Upper Saddle River, claiming he was unfairly terminated in favor of a younger employee. Smyrychynski, who began his role as assistant treasurer in July 2017, names the borough council members, mayor, and borough administrator Theodore Preusch among the defendants. Upper Saddle River officials have not yet responded to requests for comment.

Driver Trapped After High Winds Knock Down Tree in Upper Saddle River

Upper saddle River NJ, the Upper Saddle River Fire Department swiftly responded to Weiss Road following reports of a motor vehicle accident involving a fallen tree and entrapment. The incident occurred when a tree toppled onto a vehicle traveling east on Weiss Road, causing power lines to collapse onto the vehicle and trapping the driver inside. Teams from both the Upper Saddle River Fire Department and Mahwah Fire Department Rescue 1 collaborated to extricate the driver safely, once the power to the downed lines was secured. Additional support was provided by the Upper Saddle River Fire Department, Saddle River Fire Department, Upper Saddle River EMS, and Hatzola EMS.
