MONMOUTH POLL : Forget Politics Just Send the Checks

West Long Branch NJ, More than 6 in 10 Americans support the Covid stimulus bill being considered by Congress, according to the Monmouth (“Mon-muth”) University Poll. While many Americans would be willing to entertain cuts in the overall $1.9 trillion spending plan in order to gain Republican votes in the Senate, most say the $1,400 per person direct payments are off-limits. There is also widespread support for extending additional jobless benefits and majority support for raising the minimum wage. Outside the current bill, there is majority support for limited college debt relief. The poll also finds that President Joe Biden’s job rating has gotten slightly more negative since he first took office and ratings for Congress and the direction of the country have also declined since late January.

Hudson Street Parking Garage Structural Integrity?

Ridgewood NJ, It is being rumored that when the Ridgewood Streets Department used heavy equipment to remove snow from the roof of the Hudson Street Parking garage earlier this winter, the entire garage started to sway and rumble. Future plans call for the removal of snow on the roof deck using a snow blower, if necessary.

Ridgewood NJ, the National weather service has issued a wind advisory for today till 4pm . The WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON . Expect Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.  For portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut and southeast New York.  .Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Due to snow melt and recent rainfall some tree root systems may be somewhat compromised potentially leading to some uprooted trees.

Car Hit Pole on Center Divider Near Ridgewood Train Trestle

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood EMS personnel responded to a single vehicle, Sunday afternoon, 02/28, crash at the underpass complex of NJ Transit’s Bergen/Main Line railroad. Both occupants of the crashed vehicle refused ambulance transportation to a local hospital. A flatbed tow truck removed the wreckage. Ridgewood Fire Department, personnel attended to a crash related fluid spill, and also secured loose wiring associated with a damaged street lamp. From the photos its does appear the car may have been going the wrong way.  No word on what caused the crash, nor whether any summonses were issued in connection with the mishap.

Ridgewood NJ, Beware of Medical Billing Scams: Scammers, posing as hospital representatives, are contacting patients by phone and trying to obtain personal information, credit card numbers, and other sensitive data. Using a process called “caller ID spoofing,” the scammer alters the caller ID to show the hospital’s name and a local phone number. In some cases these scammers demand payment for Valley Health System services. Please be aware that Valley representatives would never ask for your portal password or any password information.

Roseland NJ, On Feb. 22, Governor Phil Murphy signed legislation that legalized marijuana for adult recreational use, making New Jersey the first in the region and the 13th state in the nation to do so. That was step two in allowing cannabis sales to proceed in New Jersey. The final step will be adoption of the regulatory framework that will be drafted by the Cannabis Regulatory Commission.
