Dumont NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JEFFREY DANIELS (DOB: 11/01/1983; single; delivery associate) of 310 Knickerbocker Road, Dumont, NJ, on charges of Murder, Possession Of A Weapon For An Unlawful Purpose, and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton, and the Dumont Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Connor.
Dumont NJ, At approximately 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, the Dumont Police Department received reports that a 5-year-old child was wandering unattended in the area of an apartment complex at 310 Knickerbocker Road in Dumont. Responding officers learned that the child’s mother lived in the complex. The child’s aunt reported that her sister, the child’s 36-year-old mother, was not answering her phone. Officers entered the mother’s apartment where they discovered her dead body. The victim had been stabbed in the neck.

HILL V (DOB: 5/15/1973; married; financial planner) of 125 Glenwood Road, Ridgewood, NJ, on a charge of Assault By Auto. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Franklin Lakes Police Department under the direction of Chief Carmine Pezzuti.
Elmwood Park NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the investigation into the discovery of a body floating in the Passaic River in Elmwood Park on Sunday, May 24, 2020. At approximately 11:20 a.m., the Elmwood Park Police Department received a 911 call reporting a body in the Passaic River. The body was located underneath Broadway on the Elmwood Park/Paterson border. The body was an unidentified male found face down, tangled in debris. The Elmwood Park Fire Department rescue boat retrieved the unidentified male and brought him to the Elmwood Park Marina for an examination by the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office. The initial assessment did not reveal any trauma to the body.
HACKENSACK NJ, Sheriff Anthony Cureton would like to make the public aware of an ongoing phone scam where perpetrators are pretending to impersonate personnel from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office. The scam attempts to extort money in the form of wire transfer, cash, and prepaid gift cards from potential victims, threatening them with arrest for “failing to report to jury duty” or “failing to appear for an outstanding summons.”

Twp.of Washington NJ, Uniformed and plainclothes police officers from Paramus Police, Ridgewood Police, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office rushed to aid Washington Township Police officers safely subdue an individual armed with two (2) knives in the rear yard of a single family home located in the 1100 block of Linwood Avenue, Washington Township on Wednesday morning, 02/26. A Washington Township EMS ambulance transported the individual to New Bridge Medical Center for evaluation. No injuries were reported in the incident, which appears to have stemmed from a domestic dispute. No word provided on the scene as to whether any criminal charges related to the knife possession or attempted assault of police officers would be filed.
Teaneck NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the ongoing investigation into the recovery of human bones located at a residential home in Teaneck, NJ during an exterior renovation project. The investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton, the Teaneck Police Department under the direction of Chief Glenn M. O’Reilly, and the New Jersey State Police Office of Forensic Sciences under the direction of Colonel Patrick J. Callahan.
Lyndhurst NJ, on Wednesday around 9:25 am the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office has placed Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst on lockdown due to a report of a suspicious item found in an elevator shaft. No student, faculty or staff can enter or exit the facility. Additional members of law enforcement have responded and are securing the facility. The Paramus and Hackensack campuses were unaffected by this lockdown. The College will provide further updates as available.
At 10:31 am the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office has lifted the lockdown at Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. Acting in an abundance of caution, law enforcement responded, secured and cleared the facility and determined no threat existed. The College thanks law enforcement for its expedient response.
