Bogota NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information regarding the investigation into the five-alarm fire that occurred on Palisade Avenue in Bogota, NJ, on Sunday, February 9, 2025. This joint investigation was conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Bogota Police Department under the direction of Chief Daniel Maye.
Bogota NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 19-year-old JUAN S. FLORES-MEJIA of Bogota, NJ on charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Bogota Police Department under the direction of Chief Daniel Maye.
Teaneck NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella has announced an active investigation into a homicide that took place on Thursday, August 15, 2024, in Teaneck, New Jersey. The incident occurred at approximately 8:25 a.m. on Hickory Street.
Bogota NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 28-year-old JAHLEA JONES of Jersey City, NJ on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, interfering with custody, contempt, receiving stolen property, and unlawful taking by means of conveyance. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Bogota Police Department under the direction of Chief Daniel Maye.
Bogota NJ, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Bogota Police Department are investigating a fatal fire that occurred at 320 River Road, Bogota, on Saturday, November 18, 2023. At approximately 5:59 a.m., the Bogota Police Department received a report of a fire at 320 River Road. Police officers responded along with the Bogota Fire Department and neighboring fire departments. First responders located an unconscious male victim inside the residence, who was later pronounced deceased at Hackensack University Medical Center. A female victim escaped from the residence prior to the arrival of police and fire personnel. She was evaluated on scene by emergency medical services and declined transport to a hospital.
Bogota Nj, according to a Bogota Police Department report Nadine Arslanian Menendez, the spouse of Senator Bob Menendez, and federally indicted in a bribery scheme with her husband, struck and killed a man while driving her Mercedes-Benz on Main Street in Bogota in December 2018.
Englewood NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that on April 28, 2023, TALEK LAWSON of Englewood, NJ was sentenced to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison after being convicted of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and hindering apprehension in connection with the death of Dakota Johnson.
Ridgefield Park NJ, a late Friday morning, 11/04, motor vehicle crash in the local lanes of Route 80 westbound at Mile Marker 67.0 in Ridgefield Park resulted in the temporary closure of all westbound local lanes while emergency crews worked to aid crash victims and to position a flatbed tow truck to remove a heavily damaged SUV.
Hasbrouck Heights NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MARIBEL RIOS aka MARIBEL ROCHE (DOB: 12/02/1969; married; bookkeeper) of 75 Lasalle Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ on charges of Money Laundering and Theft. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Bogota Police Department under the direction of Chief Daniel Maye.
Hackensack NJ, Sheriff Anthony Cureton has launched the Bergen County Fugitive Task Force through a partnership with the Bergen County Chiefs Association. The task force is charged with locating and arresting individuals who have outstanding criminal warrants and are fugitives from justice from Bergen County Superior Court. The following police agencies have participated in new task force to date:
Bogota NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of TALEK T. LAWSON (DOB: 7/9/1995; single; construction worker) of 827 Rock Creek Terrace, Englewood, NJ, on charges of Murder, Unlawful Possession Of A Weapon, and Possession Of A Weapon For An Unlawful Purpose; and the arrest of JUSTIN DULA (DOB: 4/21/1998; single; unemployed) of 684 Rock Creek Terrace, Englewood, NJ, on a charge of Aggravated Assault. The arrests are the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton, the Bogota Police Department under the direction of Chief Daniel Maye, and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Lawrence Suffern.
On Wednesday, December 12, 2018, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that a shooting had occurred on Leonia Avenue, in the area of Buddy’s Place bar, in Bogota, NJ. Responding officers and EMS treated Dakota Johnson, who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound. Johnson was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation revealed that, during a fight among numerous individuals, DULA assaulted one individual in an attempt to cause serious bodily injury. During the incident, LAWSON fired a handgun, striking and killing Johnson.
As a result of the investigation, Talek LAWSON was arrested and charged with one count of Murder, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3A(1),(2), a 1st degree crime; Unlawful Possession Of A Weapon, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5B(1), a 2nd degree crime; and Possession Of A Weapon For An Unlawful Purpose, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4A(1), a 2nd degree crime. DULA was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1B(1), a 2nd degree crime. LAWSON and DULA were remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, the Bogota Police Department, and the Englewood Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
