Ridgewood NJ, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), is more optimistic about the Garden State’s re-opening and the future of small business in the state. This comes after Governor Murphy’s announcement that because of new guidelines from the CDC, more restrictions will be lifted to help New Jersey’s small businesses continue to recover from the health and economic crisis and pandemic.

Restaurateur Bets Big on Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Sonny Singh a  62  who lives in Demarest, has been buying up Ridgewood restaurants after losing his party and bridal dress shops to the pandemic.

In the past month or so, Singh has bought Stella Artisan Italian and sister restaurant No. 12, the   nearly three-decade-old Country Pancake House on Ridgewood Avenue, which he is changing the name to  Ridgewood Diner.

Singh also has purchased  In Shape, a gym on Chestnut Street, which he is turning into Sugar & Spice Cafe and six months ago, he opened Turmeric Indian Bistro, a restaurant that specializes in North Indian cuisine, on Franklin Avenue.

Restaurant Chairs Block Parking Spaces on Ridgewood Avenue on Busy Saturday in the Central Business District

Ridgewood NJ, sometimes to just have to drop off or pick up . This is the reason some people had reservations about creating a pedestrian mall in the Central Business District . Open parking spaces were being blocked by restaurant chairs on Ridgewood Avenue of Saturday May 22nd  at 11am, peak up and delivery time for merchants in the Village on summer Saturdays . Not only could no one park costing the Village and taxpayers money , merchants could have lost a sales.

The hawk has moved into the trees behind the Religious Ed Building (former Convent) and can be seen perched on the chimney of that building or the school throughout the day. Ridgewood NJ,  with COVID-19 numbers trending decisively in the right direction and New Jersey progressing toward its adult-age vaccination goals, Governor Murphy today announced an additional easing of restrictions, including a removal of all percentage capacity limits for indoor and outdoor businesses, a lifting of the prohibition on indoor bar seating, and an end to the outdoor gathering limit. As detailed below, some changes will take effect on Friday, May 7, with others taking effect on Wednesday, May 19, in coordination with both New York and Connecticut.

Ridgewood NJ, ParkMobile, the company that operates Ridgewood’s mobile parking app, announced in March it was investigating a cybersecurity incident linked to a vulnerability in a third-party software.

The company published a notification on Mar. 26 about “a cybersecurity incident linked to a vulnerability in a third-party software that we use.”

New Jersey Small Business Disappointed by Slow Reopening Plan

Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey still does not have a plan to reopen.  Meanwhile, yesterday Governor Cuomo announced people can get served at bars in New York City beginning Monday and that outdoor and indoor dining curfews for bars and restaurants in the city will both be lifted by the end of May.  Disappointingly, this week Governor Murphy only announced that  indoor room capacities would increase to 50 percent for certain venues such as weddings, school proms, political events, funerals and performances starting on May 10.  New Jersey’s indoor dining is still capped at 50% and bar sitting is prohibited.
